- Y| 4 repliesThick Indian accent call stating that someone added 7 new devices to my Microsoft account. Asks me if I know how to check my PC to see other devices. I told him that I currently don't have a PC. He says "Oh, ok, no prob... I'm just calling as courtesy to inform you that new devices were added. You should contact Microsoft to resolve the issue." When I asked what number I should call, he says "ok, no problem" and hung up.
This happened about 10 days after suspicious activity with Skype. I immediately changed password after that, and tried to cancel skype account but Microsoft wasn't responding. I just saw a news about Skype spooking many users with apparently the same sort of thing. - James MillerThey keep calling me
- Y replies to YAddendum.
Here is the news I mentioned above.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/07/19/skype_spoofed_messages/ - Danny QuallsSays from Microsoft wants to repair downloaded malicious files.
- MrGiggleNutzI haven't been called by one of these scammers in a while but he rambled on about having too many unauthorized computers on some network.... hard to understand him with that thick Indian accent. I just purchased a call blocker so it was fun testing out that big red block button on this scammer :)
- Caller: Scammer from India
- NadineSame thing, these guys are trying to convince you there are hackers in your system, they talk you through seeing your network connections. They tell you lies about what certain netstats values mean and try to get you to share your pc with them. I wish I could think of way to stop them, they must be on a low budget, always calling from the same number.
- Caller: Fix Tech?
- Chris| 1 replyThey repeatedly call me. Sometimes I play with them just to waste their time.. More time waiting for me as I put them on hold constantly, the less time they are actually pulling the scam.
I wish there were some type of retaliation but it is not illegal to "try" to scam.. Unless it affects something like big business.. Then it's illegal.. Like trying to rob a bank.. Yet still going to jail.. But its OK to rob little ppl.- Caller: They dont say
- Call type: Telemarketer
- debbiesame here told me i had 10 users on my windows account, glad i looked this up before i called them back, hackers all
- JoeComputer scammer!!!!!!
- Islands7PESTS
call, hang up on recorder
When I answer, they are too busy socializing in noisy call office = telemarketeer
using up my phone line fees, blocking income via incoming calls, self serving self centered
They may address you by the correct name
as THE failing F grade in any etiquette class, esp. business
w/o first ID themselves with an apology for interruption & use of your phone
This is cheaper for them than USPS which would of course be treated as the trash it is but not as invasive and something to read, then consider more in earnest than a phone assault- Caller: TOLL FREE CALL

- Markhave logged 9 times incoming from this number 866-285-8026, but I let it go to voice mail as I'm in business and my customers know I can't always pickup, so my customers leave me a message and I call them back. these guys DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE. so I'm thinking it was a scam. the last time they called, they must of not hung up, I could here them talking in the back ground on my voice mail. glad to find this site; Thank You
- Caller: ?????????????
- Susan Dean| 1 replyI keep getting calls from this place about computer access how do I stop them?
- EricGustafson replies to Susan DeanYou're not required to answer any calls, but they're likely to keep calling as long as they get any kind of an answer. At a residence, try shutting down any answering device and letting the phone ring or turn off the ringer. You may be able to block the number but a call blocker may be beneficial as well. Do not return theirs or ANY unknown number's calls.
- bernard replies to Y| 2 repliesI just received an identical call on my cell phone from someone with an Indian accent who also knew my email address and tried to convince me he could show me how to check "all connected devices" but I was suspicious since he told me that hackers can do anything such as connect to my home network even though I have wifi disabled on my four port router and desktop computers already attached to all four ports.
- gail in oregon replies to ChrisJust got similar call. Wouldn't say how he got my name and number... Kept asking how he got my info, what he is selling. He kept trying to impress on me how seriously compromised my security is with 9 outside devices trying to hack into my computer, while answering none of my questions He finally hung up. Give them crap, do not give them any info or access to your computer. Do report them. There is hope. Now that they have hacked the FBI and other government agencies, the government may start to care about our security. While the 2 are not directly related, had they done something about our problems, they would have been better prepared for their own. My US Senator will be sponsoring legislation to tighten up some holes in web security. One of the worst and easiest to plug up -- these hackers are getting in to hack us via the side and back doors created by our government to gather info about us, who we send emails to...
Also, as someone noticed, these folks are very low-budget. Not only do they call from one number, but that number also is their incoming number -- meaning we can call them back at that number. I just called back about 30 times and will call some more. The same little puke answers each time with what sounds like fake office sounds in the background. I think this is one person. If we each call him back 100 times, he might reconsider his line of fake work, or at least put more brains, money and effort into it. - Lori in Oregon| 4 repliesI've received calls from this number twice now with the same story. They're maintaining my Windows and they noticed 6 new devices logged in yesterday. Strange thing is that they had my email and phone number. They asked if I was sharing my wifi with my neighbors. When I said no, they hung up. It's weird. Where do you report them to?
- Y replies to Lori in OregonI suspect mine started with that skype incident I posted above. That's why they have some personal info. Aside from blocking the number, I didn't think there is reporting agency who can take action to those scammers, that's why I came here to post so that other people can at least know when they look up on the number.
- William replies to Lori in OregonYour email and phone number are probably in a data-broker's database.
Or was skimmed out of hacker attacks on Target, Home Depot, etc in the past two years. - michelle smithUnknown and irritating calls
