Got the same message and I just pulled my annual credit report last week!  I looks like the latest scam.  Original call was from 866-299-6414.

Got perfect credit. Check out the annual credit report today. They wanted me to verfiy that I am not this individual who has a similiar name but different middle name. I hung up because the next question I am sure would be for my SSN#. I am reporting them my to State consumer protection agency tomorrow. This is an identity theft scam for sure.
I urge you all to do the same and please do not call them!

Yep. They are scammers, all right. They tried to rip a family member off on an old debt they had bought from Ford Motor Credit. He sent them a Cease Communication Letter VIA Certified Mail and basically told them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. That was over a year ago, and he hasn't heard from them since.

    Scumbag bottom feeders.

Automated debt collection message left on answering machine...Googled the number and found this website.....Thanks for the heads up! They are too stupid to know my number isn't even in the U.S.

Tried to call them just to have a little fun, but got another automated message, giving me a number that I could call to "talk with interesting people".

I can be "interesting". They should try again.

I the calls I get are at my work place, I am a receptionist and I get the calls for a private individual, I sit and wait for the recording to give me someone I can talk too and have them take our business number off the list. I don't which one they call on because we have a bunch of them.

    Can anybody help with this?

So annoying, I'm going to crank cal them 1000x now. I suggest you all do the same. Just call, and ask how they are doing, how the family is, etc.

Thanks for posting everyone. I got hit on by them too. We have excellent records and always have. I'm going to ignore the call and not give them the satisfaction of calling them back.

This company left a recorded message on my voice mail.  They identified themselves as a collection agency.  Although I am not the person they are looking for (same last name is the only commonality), they have called me NUMEROUS times even though I've asked repeatedly to have my number taken off their list.

Today was the last straw.  I told the woman I was going to report the company to the enforcers of the Do Not Call List, BBB, Attorney General, and anyone else I can find who has jurisdiction over this type of aggressive abuse.

If all of us report them, hopefully they will be put out of business and stop the harassment!

Like yourself I am a receptionist & have been getting the calls but they dont' mention their client name & just waste my time. Same thing with the lines. We have nine incoming lines. I am able to see which line this call is coming in on. Very few people in the coming know the direct number for each specific line. No one would have given this number as an employer number so I can only deduce that have a wrong number programed into the auto caller. Three times I have called & requested they remove this number, the third time I insisted on speaking to a Supervisor (which I doubt he was). He was rude, laughed at me and said there was nothing I could do about their calls since they weren't selling anything & hung up on me. Visit their website. What a joke. They claim their representitive are courteous & professional. HA.

over last month, repeated calls. I've been researching and found this site. My credit report shows NO debt so it amazed me how this could happen.  Don't fall for this.

They are number four among Bud Hibbs' top ten WORST collection agencies in this country...and for good reason:

    http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/nco_financial_systems.htm

Even though they paid the largest civil penalty to date for FCRA violations back in 2005, this hasn't stopped them from harassing people. The fault lies with the FTC's outdated FDCPA laws which were passed some 30 years ago. Attorneys with the National Consumer Law Center in Washington, D.C. have called for the FTC to completely overhaul their FDCPA regulations. Until (and IF) this ever happens, abuses by NCO Financial and the like are going to continue.

OOOPS...Somehow I got off on NCO Financial, instead of Portfolio. Anyway, they are both alike and are being allowed to circumvent the FTC's outdated FDCPA laws just the same.

I am so happy I did a search on the internet, these freaking people don't leave me alone, when I called the first time (blocked my number) I asked the scammer who answer the phone can kind of company it was and she told me with an attitude that I needed to provide my phone number so she can verify the information. I told her to stick it up ! !

However, I will send a letter so it can stop. Getting anoying.

    Thanks for the site

Received a call from these people today saying I owed for a charged off phone bill from 1997.  I have perfect credit and the bill they referred to has been bought out by another comglomerate.  They had the last 4 digits of my SS# but I would not vewrify it.  Thay told me the cells will just keep coming.  Who should I call or where should I write to stop these people?
