Call saying they are collecting for a company called Vandelier.  Vandelier was fined by FTC for trade practices of depositing funds in peoples bank account without request.  They want to collect several thousand dollars and I never borrowed from them.

Let your employer know about the extortion attempt.  Do not put anything past callers like this.  Don't be surprised if they also call family & friends.

Played phone tag with these people. Message from Henry Clark. Got a guy named Charles and said my car was being repossessed for not paying a payday loan. They were going to auction my car off in New York??! First of all I still owe money on my car and I don't have the title in my name. I started asking a lot of questions regarding the loan and Charles called me an idiot and started yelling at me. I hung up.

They called my relatives telling them they will repossess my car. Little did they know my car was totaled three months ago and paid off. This is a terrible company. How are they getting away with this?

Received voicemail from Charles. States that my car is being repossessed and if I want my personal belongings I need to contact them. (I don't even own a functioning car) the only car that I own has been totaled and has been sitting on my fathers farm as we are just selling off parts. And I've never even had a loan on the car as I paid cash for it a long time ago. Anyway, I called Charles back and he said that I had a loan from some Indian tribe and they are coming after me.. they don't govern the same as the United States so getting an attorney won't help. He rattled off my social and address like it was nothing. I told him my attorney would be contacting him. I just called my attorney and he is going to look into it for me.

SGQ is a well known criminal enterprise.  Pay day loans and the collection of them are illegal in New York.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They called and left a message stating that I need to remove my possessions from the vehicles I out right own.  I'm wondering if my children had done something that I was uncertain of.  So of course, I ask the nature, the company, I ask for a phone and/or address. I even asked for a case number.  Mr Charles Ross (or what he'd like to be called) stated that he worked for SGQ Lenders and my vehicles were being seized to pay off a levy for a pay day loan.  I haven't had a pay day loan in 15 years and when I did, I paid it in full.  He said that he wasn't asking for money and I should have paid my debt.  I told him that I've had been a victim of fraud and I need to verify what all of this is.  He belligerently told me I should of paid my debt and that I'll be walking for the Christmas and hung up.

So I called back asking again for validation of this. I've checked my credit reports and nothing was there.  If its a debt its owed so how come I did not see it? Again he stated that he can't divulge any information and hung up. I called a friend who was a lawyer and put the call on a 3-way. He spoke that he was representing me.  Mr Ross hung up.  My lawyer friend told me to file a complaint with the states attorney's office. I then called back and told Mr Ross that and he hung up on me.

So since he was being ignorant the whole conversation and disturbed my day.  I decided to disturb his and I've been calling and hanging up every opportunity I can.  Ppl are horrible...

This is an outright scam.   No debt collector/repo agent,  can repo any vehicle unless the person ordering the repo has some sort of security interest in the vehicle.   Like a lien-holder.

In any event, most repo-outfits are strictly regulated by the individual states.

If the vehicle is free and clear of security interests then it would take a court order to levy on the vehicle.   No debt collector can levy on anyone's property in the absence of a court order.   It's clear that there has been no legal proceedings undertaken.

This , as I say, is a total outright scam.   Ignore and block any calls from this  group

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.
