Did you find out where that number is from?

My mom got the same call and when I called it back it said liberty, and that's it which is a little more than suspicious.

Called my home today saying we had to pay 345.00 to them for uncollected debt. Said if we didn't pay, we would be summoned to appear in court. Who are these people?

Already I can tell that they practice illegal methods of debt collection. They said on my answering machine that it was regarding a fraudulent bank transaction. I think I would remember being part of a 'fraudulent' bank transaction! My bank account is in good standing. Has been for years, since I opened it, in fact. I have not, and do not write fraudulent checks. Read online that making threats like that is a common practice from debt collectors. Not only do I have no recollection for this supposed debt I owe, they're not supposed to threaten charges like that! It's illegal. Reporting their butts to the Federal Trade Commission right now! I believe this is a scam. A 'phantom debt' scam. They prey on innocent people, making up imaginary debts that some people, who question their memory, just pay not knowing there was never a legitimate debt to begin with.
