- apiratelooksat30| 2 repliesIt's an un-posted number for a company called CPS. They're a shady debt collector that buys old garbage debt and tries to collect on it - They call me 8 or 9 times a week looking for someone not even at this number and don't get the joke when I tell them I'm not who they're looking for.

- Dennis replies to apiratelooksat30They called and left a message. Said we needed to call them about a credit card purchase. When I called them back they said they were wanting to collect on a debt for $900 for a bose system and wanted to know if I wanted to pay to avoid legal action. I told them I hadn't brought or owned anything from Bose. They hung up
- nottherightperson| 1 replyThey've got the wrong number because it's a recording that says they are calling for a person that doesn't live here about recent credit card transactions. They call frequently and I have been hanging up thinking it was a mistake. It gives you an option to press 1 to speak to someone and I finally did to tell them they had the wrong number and I was placed on hold and then hung up on. They called right back, played the recording, I pressed 1 again, was placed on hold, hung up on again.
- Melrose replies to nottherightpersonCPS has been calling our house for weeks looking for someone we do not even know. It took me five attempts today to speak with someone because they kept hanging up on me as I tried to explain their mistake. When I did get a guy on the phone, he was a complete jerk.
- notmeThis company has called me saying that I owe for a return check back in 2002. I ask why I was just now being notified. They hung up on me. I called back 16 times and each time I got someone that would not tell me what the company name was or why they were calling me but they sure know how to hang up on every call I made. I called for 4 days in a row. Since I owe no bills and since I have the time to now worry about outstanding debts, I have time to track down this sorry company and make sure they are stopped. They are not professional and they are not even helpful if you wanted to pay your debt.

- TiffI have this guy that works with me, some aggressive man from CPS financial services keeps calling, blocking his number. He wont give any information on the company, he just gets more aggressive. He even calls this guy wife at work & tells whomever answers the phone what the amount owed to him is & tell that woman to pay me... Which number 1, is very much against the law, NO company is allowed to tell anyone how much is owed on any account, unless your name & social security number is signed on that contract. I am trying to find some information on this company so I can send them a letter & file with the Texas attorney general on them. This has gotten out of hand. He calls the company cell phone trying to reach my coworker & it has to stop. He refuses to give any information. For any of you that may not know, in the state of TX debt collectors can not call you before 8 am & after 9pm monday - friday. On the weekends they can not call you after 6 & on sundays they can not call you before 12. They are limited as to how often they can call. They can not make threats to you, nor lie. You can sue them & actually get some money out of it, kind of crazy... Debts are erased off your credit every 7 yrs, unless you file bankruptcy, so if its an old debt tell them screw off & THEY CAN NOT put it back on your credit. Someone tried that with me once, yea not going to happen. THey can not garnish your paycheck unless its a government thing like student loans, child support, or you owe the IRS. BE careful though because some companies are even good enough to somehow file some kind of form with the IRS to make it look like a government item so they will take your income returns... you have to call the IRS to find out the information on that.

- shirley| 1 replyi paid the debt and they still call
- Caller: no name
- CelticDragon replies to shirleyHere's the probable reason: you did not own the debt yet paid it anyway so now the scammers think they have a sucker. If someone tells you that you owe a debt, ask for a CERTIFIED letter-email, fax and especially telephone are rarely, if EVER acceptable
