This number is a part of Careers Inc, which is a verification service for employers for hundreds of different job boards. I'm a representative of Careers and would like to clarify why you're getting a text from us on this number. We receive a large quantity of resumes for thousands of positions across the country, and our job is to verify that your contact information is correct. If the information on your resume is invalid, then we help them to correct it and update the employer on the applicant's status. We do not ask for any sensitive information such as SSN. We do not charge for our service. We will never ask you for anything beyond confirming what's already in your resume on file.

I agree with the above. If this is a truly reputable company, I would expect to receive a telephone call or at minimum an email with direct contact information to your company. From the look of your website, it looks as though you are just a clearing house for people's information. In this day and age, with all the identify theft, I would not feel comfortable calling back a number where I had not intitiated the contact.

I called the number and spoke with Judith.  She stated that she was just "verifying" information for a client for the Administrative Asst. position that I applied for.  When I requested to know what company was wanting to verify, she refused to say stating that it was "confidential" until the client contacted me directly.  She then asked me a few questions, such as "Do I have internet access at home?" "Are you currently employed?" and "Do you plan on furthering your education?"  She didn't verify any of my info that was on my actual resume.
In regards to this, yesterday I received a text from "Kim" who wanted me to register on jobnab.com so that she can discuss details of a job that appears to match my resume.  I don't know why they would need me to register on this site when it appears they already have access to my resume and contact info. When I did some research on jobnab.com, it sounds like they get paid by asking questions about "futhering my education" and then sell the info to recruiters for colleges.
I think they got my info in the first place because I have been applying to different jobs online, and I started to apply for a job posted as and Admin Asst for a company called "ABC" or something like that.  Halfway through the first page they asked a question regards to what my plans were regarding my education.  After responding to that question, it took me to another form and started asking me a ton of questions about what I want to study for my degree etc.  After answering a few of those questions, I began to thin it was possibly a phishing site, so I closed the window right away.  Unfortunately, I think because I filled out the previous personal info, they have access to at least my cell number.
Anyway, if you are reading this you have probably had a similar experience.
