I have received several calls from this number, called Rogers credit operations today ( I don't have any products with Rogers) and they confirmed that it must be someone else has listed my number on their account.

It's a scam... Rogers is not affiliated with this number. I have been told by Rogers (at 1-888-Rogers-1) to ignore this number but they keep calling... grrrrrrr!

I have no account with Rogers so have no idea why they're calling.  I returned the call and clicked 1 for English, then hung up as I fear it's a scam.

I just called them and this time spoke to Dan (?) Polite and could not find anything on either my land-line or cell phone (on which they called.) When I asked where they were located he said "Outside Toronto...that's all I can say."  I asked why. "Not able to disclose info", was reply.

This number keeps calling my cell phone several times a day/night but as I don't know who it is, I don't answer. Under Consumer/Pipeda law, if a company calls more than 3 times with in 7 consecutive days, it is considered harrassment. This number has already called 3 times this morning.
    STOP CALLING ME!

@May: The regulation which you are referring to pertains only if they established contact with you (you picked up and spoke to them).  They can't speak to you more than three times per week.  However, if you let it ring and don't answer, or if they get voice mail, then it doesn't count towards the three call limit.  I'm not sure if there's a limit for unsuccessful calls (calls where no contact was made)... I don't believe there is.  As far as I know they can just keep calling over and over if there's no answer or if it goes to voice mail.  As for the caller, it is, in fact, Rogers accounts receivables.  I picked up and spoke to them regarding my account (my payment is late by two weeks).

Here is my 2 cents also. Eric you are spot on.
Dont take the calls, let it go to voice mail or turn the telphone vol. off or low. If your debt is in collections it has been sold to a 3rd party for pennies on the dollar. Should you wish to reaffirm this debt (pay it) ask for proof that you owe it 1. in writting sent via United States Postal Service. 2. Ask to see the original signed contact that you agreed to pay back the debt. 3. In writing again, ask for the last payment the original company was given and the AMOUNT that you paid them (the original holder)

Never agree that you owe a 3rd party anything, actually say nothing other then ask for proof. They will try to get you to cave into them. Also if they claim to be calling for an Lawyers office say GOOD send me proof in writing along with your licence number to show ME that you can practice law in my state and oh by the way dont forget to send along with your licence to practice law everything that I asked you for during this conversation.
No one wants to owe anyone debt there is always a right and wrong way to work things out. Sometimes people just dont have it to give or they dont feed their families. It can be that simple.

For some reason I remember 866 numbers being from Canada too when NCO Fiancial crooks had those area code numbers.
