After repeatedly requesting that calls from company allegedly identified as "Cardinal and Associates, the representative called me a "F*****g Idiot".  This incident occurred on March 24, 2017 at approximately 8:53am.

I too got similar calls from that number, in addition to this number 877-247-0412. They refuse to say who they are unless you give them personal information.
I'd asked to not be contacted again, yet still get 1 or 2 calls a month from them with same recording. Frustrating.

This number called my sister at work harassing her, when she refused to take any more calls they called me at home. The only way they could've gotten my home number is from a resume my sister uploaded when she was on unemployment. While collecting unemployment, they make you upload a resume with your name, address, previous jobs etc. when they couldn't reach her they started calling people on her references list.   When I asked what the call was about they said my sister had taken out a cash advance and if I didn't pay it they're going to call the cops on her. I laughed .  This is such a blatant scam  and something needs to be done.  Telling them not to call you anymore doesn't work.

Threatening sounding voicemail.. telling me to call an 800 number so that they don't need to take "further action".. No thank you. Sounds like a general message that is sent to everyone. Blocked the number.

Total scam. Do not pick up your phone or entertain them.  I investigate these cases all the time and have warned my family, yet some managed to get duped.  This particular caller was looking for my mother-in-law, and tried to get my information even though I was not the target.

I just got off the phone with Tia Dixon from this organization. I asked for the name of the organization and she became extremely loud and aggressive and refused to give it to me, she told me all I needed to know is that it is a legal firm, then she hung up on me.

    Same Situation
When I questioned the rep about the location of the main office for cardinal and associates, they hung up like 20 times Haha. Keep calling them and harassing until they block you. Is it legal to pretend to be a cop when they're pretending to be debt collectors? I try to make friends with them and then degrade them for being scammers. Lowest lifeforms on the planet.

They continue to call for my daughter. She has never lived here with our current phone number. Must have gotten info off of something she filled out as stated by earlier comment above. Will not be calling them back. They can't even pronounce her name.

At approximately 4:40am ( yes I was up all night and frightened by the days events, which included an exchange of threats, profanity and barrage of racial epithets that caused great fear) so I called (866) 313-4457 trying to find the real identity of the company and the phone is disconnected.  However, I am former  law enforcement and will track them.

This debt scammer, Cardinal, does have some history on this site.  This is a relatively new phone number that they using.  If you go to the main page of this site, and enter the word Cardinal in the search box at the top of the page, then hit enter and you will be able to see entries about these crooks that go back a long ways.

    Try this: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-309-216-6759/5
On page 5, there is an entry from a regular user, CWG40, and you can see how Cardinal is associated with a much, much larger systematic scam, and that it may be run from outside the USA.

Debt scammers do not want you to be able to reach them.  The number you called is probably spoofed, and that is typical.

The lies and threats you mentioned are exactly how this scam works.  They will call your family, your work place and maybe even friends.  They will say the cops are on the way with a warrant, and you will taken right to jail.  They will tell you that your SS# and drivers license will be "put on hold".   Be angry, but don't loose sleep. If you are going to fight them, it will take some time.  You might have some luck with going after them for TCPA Violations.  You can google that.

Don't let these crooks ruin one more minute of your life! Post back if you have questions, but I think I gave you enough to get you started.  Do look on this site for other entries about these clowns.  You have already done some good, just by posting and sharing what you have learned.  Others will read your posts and understand that these calls are lies, that the calls can be ignored and blocked.

Here is a link to some other info that will probably be interesting and hopefully, helpful.

    General Rules of the Road:

What have you tried?  Only you have the power to cut the number of calls you are getting.
    Some Things to Try:
    - Don't answer calls with phone numbers or names that are unknown or suspicious. Always check your phones caller ID before answering.
    - NEVER Return calls to unknown numbers or suspicious name. Your curiosity will only get you more calls.
    - Crooks do not pay attention to the Do Not Call list.  Don't bother telling crooks that you are on the DNC or that you demand calls are stopped.  Crooks do not keep their own Do Not Call lists.
    - Block unwanted calls with a call blocker.  Some phone carriers offer limited call blocking for free, some home phones systems have call blocking built in.  There are apps for smart phones.  A stand-alone call blocker usually costs from $40 - $50.
    - Be aware of how your phone number gets leaked to telemarketers and such.  Not everyone who asks for your phone number really needs it.
    - Sometimes keeping records that track the calls can help you know who is passing out your number.
