Scammer keeps calling saying there is a legal complaint scheduled to be file in my county, yada, yada, yada.  These ignorant people are just out to scam people.  I have no debt so I know they are scammers

Just got the same type of call. Well voicemail. Female spoke so fast, I could only make out the phone number and words legal services and county.

Lady spoke unintelligibly fast.  Something about court action, forwarded to county, charges to be filed, have a case number....  Based on above similar experiences, and that if it was real they would be sure to communicate without mumbling, I'm blocking and reporting as spam.

Received a voicemail from a different number. Says they are process servers and case has been referred to them. Tells you to call this number (legal department) if you aren’t familiar with the case, if you wait too long it will be too late, blah blah. Caller (self-identified as Sara) ended the voicemail with “YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED” and then hung up. They’re either chasing some old debt or just straight up scammers. They are clearly trying to scare people into calling with their tactics that are probably only a sliver outside of the legal boundaries for debt collection.

My ex-wife that I have not been married to or lived with in 17 years just forwarded a voicemail from this number (866-315-0957) saying they are looking for me (knew my first and last name) due to some complaint that will be filed with the county and to call them back with a case number. I have received these calls before and when I started questioning them their number changed or they would not return my calls. This is a scam to try and collect on an old debt or something. I have no debt and do not owe anyone any money in arears. Total scam...

This number called me a said I owed money to a college I have never been to. They had all my information. How do they get your information?

"law firm" clowns trying to collect on time barred debt---used the scare tactic of filing a case in my county.  the orig debt was from 2007!?!  IGNORE 866-315-0957

866-315-0957 trying to intimidate me to pay Bank of America nonsense that came off my credit report OVER 10 YEARS AGO.  go ahead and send the courier out here for me to sign some documents.  Bogus threat.  It's a shame that people who don't know their rights would actually fall for these illegal debt collection scams.

Simulation of legal process is more than a "sliver" out of bounds. It's seriously violative of the FDCPA and similar laws. You're right to consider that the alleged debt could be a real account, but these tiresome "pay up or get served" threats signal loudly that no court is involved and the thugs are incapable of supporting their own claims.
