I got a scam letter in the mail from a place just identified as American. It had the American Airline logo and said that I had won 2 free round trip tickets. Basically it is a scam for a travel agency trying to sell some sort of savings package and if you get the package you get the tickets. BUT the package is crap and there are all kinds of hidden fees and stuff in the ticket vouchers.

I got the letter also. It stated they had attempted to call me several times with success. I tried to call and was put on hold then decided to google the phone number. Thanks Ariel.

Actually, the logo is not American Airlines... unless they changed their logo recently.  But yeah, we got one too.  Just tossing it.

I got one of these too.  My letter had no return address, but was mailed from Phoenix, AZ.  The letter had the word American at the top with two triangular things next to it.  I checked on the American Airlines website and confirmed that my letter did not contain the American Airlines logo.  Instead it looks like a 7th grader designed the thing using an old version of Word.  My letter was (allegedly) from Eli Rey; however, it was signed "El Rey" with no i.  That would be Spanish for "the king."  I guess the so-called Eli believes he is royalty.  As mentioned in some of the other posts, I was supposed to call 866-315-2613.  I didn't.

I received the same letter as Sue. Reported the information to the US Postal Inspection Service at http://ehome.uspis.gov/fcsexternal/default.aspx. Hopefully they can do something about this company if they receive enough complaints...

Travel awards division - PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER-unless you are fully aware of the TERM and CONDITIONS to which you are agreeing - you may get a "free" trial or tickets or a small gift of some sort, but you WILL, must likely, be enrolled in a recurring charge, or be charged for something you may never use.

Waited on hold for an associate. They are a call center in Phoenix full of sales people with goals quotas to meet - (call times, sales quotas, etc.) They may not even realize the hardship many may go through after the "sale."

IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE... IT IS!
