I received a call asking to call this number as well when I called they told me that one of the carriers or servers in the area was looking for my uncle in regards to his child support case documents and they probably couldn't find him this morning so they called a relative to see if I knew where he was at or to get this number to him, I assume he is being taken to court over this, I told them that I do not talk to him anymore and they noted his case for me.

Listened back to VM, guy says he's Gerald Mack. Never says company name & says call 866-321-8819 with complaint reference# & says same paperwork will be filed at my local courthouse, is this a scam? Would the local courthouse not contact directly themselves?

My sister received a call from the same number this morning, and they stated a formal complaint was filed against me with a ref# nine numbers difference from dmc's. When I call it says thank you for calling Postal? and to enter an extension #. I called my local court house and was told that it is a scam, and there is no such complaint, so be aware...I need to figure out how to stop this place from harrassing my family members.

It is a scam. If a law case was pending against you, you'd heard about it by letter from the attorney for the other side.  There would be a paper trail.  You wold NOT have heard about it from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and demands money.  If a case has been filed against you, you'd have been properly served with process by a process server in your own state.  There would be a paper trail.

You can check this out for yourself by simply going down to your local main  courthouse and checking to see if your name appears on the civil defendants index.  The court clerks will be glad to help you because they dislike these scams as much as anyone.

This is a total scam.  Ignore them and block their calls.

They call themselves "Coastal", claim to be some sort of "litigation firm" which is total nonsense; they are debt collectors. No idea where they are located.

Yes, this is a scam.  Someone's trying to scare some money out of you.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

    If they are bothering you,

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection  (Threatening criminal prosecution to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
