Criminals will often put small charges on your account to see if (a) You notice, and (b) it gets accepted. Call your account number, using either the number on your statement, or phone book. Start a dispute. They may have to close your account & open a new one. News report that only around 10% of people actually read their credit card statements, or cell phone bills.

I do not receive calls from this number.  However, it appears on my monthly Visa statement.  It is associated with charges from Amazon Services-Kindle when I download an e-book and the purchase automatically is charged to my Amazon account.  The Visa charge usually reads: "Amazon Services-Kindle  866-321-8851 WA".  However, once or twice a month the charge for an e-book download simply reads: "866-321-8851    866-216-1072 WA".  This had me worried, but I have accounted for these charges by matching them to the separate e-mail invoices I receive from Amazon Kindle Services for each e-book I purchase.  So I know they are not fraudulent charges.  Having said this, I have no idea why some of you are receiving phone calls from this number.

These two articles about fraudulent credit card charges do not apply to your situtation, but the comments at the end of the article might contain information useful to you. In those comments people talk about other kinds of bogus charges made to their credit cards.

Refer to Alton's post on 3 May.

I saw a line item on my Visa statement described as 866-321-8851 on the day I ordered two Kindle ebooks from Amazon.  The other ebook order was shown as "Amazon Services - Kindle."  I called the number which responded with a recording, "Welcome to Amazon Kindle support," or similar.  I then went to the Amazon web site and checked both ebooks.  The book prices plus tax matched the charges on my Visa statement.

I don't know why the two ebook descriptions were different, but there doesn't appear to be fraudulent activity, only some confusion.

This was a Kindle purchase for me as well, however I ordered it from "Kindle Buffet," a website that promotes low cost books available on Amazon.

This is an Amazon Kindle purchase. Generally they're listed on your CC statement as Amazon Services-Kindle, however if there is a credit applied to your purchase, it will be listed as 866-321-8851 866-216-1072 WA.

    BigA replies to Helen eagles,
The phone number should be listed on your bank statement.  If this is in regards to Amazon, you can go to their website and find out how to call them.

Received a fraudulent charge from Kindle Svcs*...866-321-8851 for $4.13 on March 9, 2019.  I do not own a Kindle.  Also two other fraudulent charges from amazon.com.  Confirmed with amazon that these were not mine and cancelled my card.

Not a phone call, fake charge to a debit card. They start with a small one to kindle, itunes, etc. If that works, they try a big one to Amazon. Cancelled the card, got a new one. They hit again seconds after the new card was used for the first time.
