Scam concerning computer

Scammer say they are Microsoft technicians trying to fix your comptuer

I was trying to find a fillable form 1099 and went to this web site and my computer starting beeping. it told me I was messing up my Windows 7 registry.  It told me to call 866-329-5691 so that the Microsoft technican could help me
It gave me a error number.  This site was helpful as I know it was a scam. I hope they did not mess up my computer!  I will find out soon

As long as you didn't allow them access to your computer you should be fine.  Clear out the cache and the cookies, run an antivirus scan and also run a malware scan such as Malwarebytes and/or Spybot, both free programs.  .  Never try to get tax forms anywhere but the official IRS site.  By the way, you are late.  1099 forms are supposed to be sent out by the end of January.

Firefox tab opened with message claiming my recently updated Firefox 45.0 was incompatible with my Windows 7; Firefox has been disabled for my protection; .....  DO NOT SHUTDOWN OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, ...., DOING SO MAY LEAD TO DATA LOSS, FAILURE OF THE OPERATING SYSTEM, POSSIBLE NON-BOOTABLE SITUATION, .....  Suspected it was a SCAM but called the Tech Service that's serviced our PCs for 20 years (got no answer and his email box was full).  Already ran an antivirus (clean), will run Malware bytes next, .... scheduled back-up just before this message appeared.  (Please all more Call Types in drop list "Computer Scam".) Oh, also had several pop-ups from someone wanting me to install new drivers (ignored that).

Most likely a ransomware site-you've done (and are doing) the right thing.
