Sent me a letter with no return address or company name listed anywhere on the letter or envelope. Letter stated it is a payment reduction notification on my current mortgage. It is NOT. This is another lender cold mailing and has no association with my lender or the government. They have called me several times and never leave messages.

I too get calls and now a letter.  No form or header or return address.  However at the bottom of the letter in very light type is: "This product or service has not been approved or endorsed by any government agency and this offer is not being made by an agency of government.  All borrowers must be qualified and approved under the lender's current underwriting guidelines.  Rates and terms are subject to change".

THIS IS A LENDER COLD CALLING AND SENDING A LETTER TO YOUR HOME!!!

Also, they make it sound as though the law will expire, - SCAM...

I have also been getting alot of unknown callers.  I just received the letter in the mail today.  It goes as far as to list the government link in reference to the Stimulus Act 2008 bill.  It looks very official until you get down to the fine print.  Mine too states it is not endorsed ny any governemnt agency.  I can see how a person could easily fall for this scam especially in times of hardship.

My father in law got this in the mail. Looks like an official gov. letter but it is NOT.

I wouldn't bother contacting the phone number.
