- Phaedra S.Amerimark partners with or owns about 8 companies including DrLeonards.com, FeelGoodsStore.com, BeautyBotique.com, CarolWrightGifts.com, ComplementsShoes.com, Windsor Collection, Alfred Dunner, Anthony Richards Apparel, Healthy Living, and As Seen On TV Products (list may not be complete or accurate). When you order something from one of them (shoes, in my case), you get a packet automatically enrolling you in Passport to Health. If you don't opt out, you get one month free and then they start billing your credit card--they already have the number, remember--$29.95 a month until you figure out there's a problem and call this number. The customer rep I spoke with claims to have credited the monthly fee back to my credit card while I was speaking with her. We'll see. Incidentally, shortly after this unauthorized charge was made on my account, my credit card number was hacked and used to order all sorts of tickets to entertainment venues--Disney Land, Sea World in Florida, a medieval themed restaurant in Galveston, the LA County Fair, and more--all on the same day. I strongly suspect someone in the Amerimark chain.
- JohnJust found this $29.99 on my mother's checking statement...from a company called Passport to Health. Checked more and found that for the past four months, since she ordered clothing from a toll free number, someone charged this 83 year old woman this $29.99 fee without authorization. How I know it wasn't authorized is because she has dimentia and I phoned the order for this clothing in myself and told the telephone representative "no" to other offers she was describing. I told this telephone rep that she only wanted the clothing she saw in an ad but apparently this woman went ahead and enrolled her without consent. I contacted this 866-345-4401 and they cancelled her membership and refunded the past four months. It wasn't their fault but was the fault of the person taking the order anxious to make a commission on a sale on this health club membership. Passport to Health was good about it but no more calling toll free numbers ordering items. Only secure websites.

- Concerned DaughterThe charges appeared on my mom's statement. She just paid the balance and never questioned the recurring charge. 4 months worth. I called the my mom's credit card company dispute center, and they called Anthony Richards while I was on the phone. Got it cancelled then got a customer service rep from Anthony Richards on the phone and had them immediately remove ALL charges. They refunded 4 months worth of charges. It is better to have your CC company call them. They answer faster and don't give you any back talk.
- Dina NWJust found out my boss bought shoes for his wife & they've gotten him for over 2 years! $29.99 a MO for 2 years. He is 89 and didnt catch it until we started bank rec's and taxes for 2011. These places should be ashamed!!!!
Just my 2 cents! Good Luck to you all! Dina - Mary CarolI bought some bras from Amerimark and never noticed that in the packing there was an offer for medical insurance for $3.99 for the first month and $29.99 if the offfer was not cancelled. I never gave them permission to give me insurance. This whole mess is to the tune of $483.83. I called Barcley Bank and they called Amerimark while I was on the phone and had me speak to them. I told them I never signed up for this insurance. I have Medicare and Medicaid and they take care of all my needs. They said they would credit my bank for the charges. The bank told me to wait two weeks and check to see if that happens. At that point they said they would go after them for some of the charges. I feel so stupid that I let this happen and never saw that charge because it just got lost in my other charges. I thought it was for gas and never really paid attention. I also asked for a confirmation number and the bank said that would be a great help if they do not pay. I will post more information as I get it ...maybe I could help someone else.
- Mary CarolPlease read my previous post. I RECEIVED MY FULL REFUND OF $483.83. I just checked my bank and it was posted today. Have your bank call Amerimark while you are on the phone. I also asked the women from Amerimark that I wanted to heard the tape of me telling them I wanted this insurance and she did not answer..Then I said that I wanted a copy of the papers that show that I wanted this insurance....she did not have an answer. Please call your credit card company. I can't believe that I got that refund. What a bunch of crooks to do this and try and get away with it. I also reported them to the BBB and the Attorney General in Ohio. Good Luck Folks!!

- AnitaDo NOT order merchandise from http://www.anthonyrichards.com Apparently, when I ordered merchandise, hey signed me up for some sort of scam and charged my credit card 19.99 a month!

- AnitaDo NOT order merchandise from http://www.Amerimark.com/anthonyrichards if you receive a catalog from Anthony Richards. They continued to bill my credit card $19.99 a month for some kind of service scam.

- Betsy replies to Vivian VanEttenI just called and canceled a membership which I didn't know I had! The recording said I would get a refund. We'll see!
- Doris S replies to Monique G.The same thing has happened to me. I just caught the first $29.99 charge on my credit card yesterday. After seeing all these notes, I decided to call the 866 number referenced above. I spoke with a very nice woman who told me I would be refunded the $29.99 plus the $3.99 original charge, and that she would cancel my plan immediately. The whole phone call took 5 minutes. I feared the worst, but hopefully I'll have a successful outcome within 48 hours. Lesson learned, I will not longer be ordering ANYTHING from these catalogs. Thank you for all your input, and I wish you all well.
- jsintonMy 80 year old mother bought 4 bras from Beauty Boutique and they somehow enrolled her in the Amerimark Passport to Health plan. The first charge was three months after the initial bra purchase. It was obvious because they made two charges: one on 1/12 and one on 1/15, both for $29.99. I called them and insisted they were unauthorized charges, they agreed to remove the charges. If they don't, I'll take it up with the credit card company.

- Debra laub| 1 replyFor the past three months we've had $29.99 taken out of our account after charging one thing. Our bank is trying to hold us responsible.what do we do to recoup the money?
- Caller: Feel good store
- BigA replies to Debra laubWell the first thing you need to do is to start checking your statement every month. Then when an unauthorized charge comes through you can dispute it immediately, well within the 60 days that are given to you for that reason. You might need to fight them on this. However if you signed up for a recurring charge, then you have no defense. I am not sure what you might have done, but many web sites have boxes pre-checked that sign you up for stuff. I would send them a certified, return receipt letter telling them to stop any recurring charges and demanding a refund.
- ScamCharged my card and I have no contact with them before. Called and tried to get it removed and got the run around. Has anyone had success getting a refund.....
