Hung up on the answering machine

Somehow they knew my home and cell number and called them both. I didn't answer. Left no voice mails.

I called the number back and its Sallie Mae Financial

obviously its sallie mae financial. pay your loan on time and they wont call you anymore

joe is right for the most part, but I have been getting calls from this number and I don't owe them anything....never have. My final conclusion is that joe is an ass. lol

Began receiving calls at 5:28pm 9/28/07. Several calls, hang ups, no message was received. 7:38pm Man stated it was a collection agency for SLM, stated I didn't pay September payment. DEMANDED payment via credit card/check. I stated I would make an online payment Saturday. He became rude and more demanding, stating I had to make an immediate payment. I hung up. 7:48pm, another call and hang up, 7:59pm another call and hang up. 9:25pm I received another call from a woman from "a collection agency for SLM". She DEMANDED an immediate payment. I stated I had made September payment 9/4/07 on line. She demanded the confirmation number. I could not locate it immediately. I stated i would be making another payment Saturday. I didn't appreciate the harrassment after at least 5 calls in one night. She became rude and stated they would continue to call. I hung up on her. ps I found the confirmation number for the payment shortly after I hung up the phone. To date I have made every payment due. Any further harrassment from this company, I will report them to the Better Business Bureau and may file harrassment charges.

This number called my 12 YEAR OLD daughter 18 times in one day.  These people are idiots

They are insane Sallie Mae at one point was calling my 33 year old sister about a loan which has been paid off for about 5 years. I'm currently paying off mine and will get calls reguardless if the payments are ontime or not, always very hostile. I now have the number saved as "dont answer" in my cell phone.

First off if you are receiving calls from this number all you have to do is pay your bill over the phone. I checked into it and once you miss a payment you can't mail it in or pay online. If the number hangs up on you just call it back and someone will pick up the phone. If you don't have an account with them then just let them know and tell them to remove the number, this worked for a friend of mine who was receiving calls from them. The calls are harassing but if you just pay your bill over the phone with them they get the calls to stop immediately.

i really agree with the person who wrote "help for dumb poeple" he is right just pay the bill and calls will stop that is all.

This number has been call my cell number every hour on the hour and sometimes every 15 minutes in between.

Received call from 866-350-9568 on my cell phone, home phone and then work phone. I answered the work phone and it was Salli Mae.  I advised that they MAY NOT call me at work-but gave my home number and told them to leave a message-as I NEVER answer 800 or 866 numbers.  She advised that they are not allowed to leave a message except to a real person.  She is making a note in the file that I allow a message to be left.

They call every night at approximately 7:30 pm.  When I pick up, they hang up.  When I let it go to the voice mail they do not leave a message.  I have not received a bill in the mail nor do I know what/where to pay.  The only reason I know the caller is Sallie Mae is due to this website.  I tried calling the number back and there was no answer.  If there were a name on the caller ID it would have been less frustrating.  I would have known what the call was about.

I made a $300 payment online and I kept getting calls.  The girl told me that that would cover the September payment (current month) but the ONLY way to get my account out of delinquent status is to pay through their office.  I called the main number to Sallie Mae.  I spoke with a very nice lady.  She said that those people are outsourced to collect payment on past due accounts.  They get credit for the amount of money the get you to pay.  The lady from Sallie Mae said that she was embarrassed at the way they conduct business.  She said to tell them, "Thank you for the reminder.  I will pay this immediately online."  They will do or say ANYTHING to get you to pay.  The best way to get them back is to tell them you are going to pay online.  Once you pay online.  The calls will stop.  Once your account goes 3 days past due your account pops up in their office.  ALSO, I had a guy tell me that I can pay half today and he will put an automated payment in next week.  That never happened.  You know why?  Because it triggered my account to fall in to past due status and went to their office again so they could get credit for the collection.  Pay your account online but DO NOT PAY THESE GUYS!!!!!  I would tell them that too.  I hope this helps!!!

I have also been getting calls.  8 in a 3 hour span.  and this is when i've mailed it out and it's only 3 days late because of postal situations (nothing i can control).  I have told SLM before i work 3rd shift and if they don't leave a message i will not get back to them for i sleep ALL day...  that and i don't pick up my phone from number i don't know after 8pm anyways.  THey've told me before that i had to pay immediatly and slapped a horrendous transaction fee for using my debit card before.  They've been very pushy and have threatened my mother on the phone.

Sallie Mae is screwing over more and more people in their relentless pursuit of profits. They used to be a govt agency that handled student loans but now they are a private company bought out by their big execs who make massive amounts of money on defaulted and delinquent student loans. Check out studentloanjustice.org to see what these scammers have done. Now I do not recommend that anyone ignore their student loans. But if you cant pay then you cant pay and it is wrong for SM to charge all these extra late fees and interest to those who are not able to pay. It is now easier to get out of paying back taxes then paying back student loans. Someone please explain that one to me. If I'm rich but dont pay the taxes I owe I can hire an atty to reduce or eliminate those taxes but if I'm a poor student whose education did not pay off I am stuck paying back all those loans plus late fees and interest until I die. Thats modern capitalistic America for you. Unfortunately you cant stop SM from calling you if they own the loans. But if they do send the loans to a collection agency you can tell them to shut up with a cease and desist letter as modeled on budhibbs.com. It sickens me to realize that our govt and laws are geared towards giving the rich more breaks while screwing over the poor.

This number will sometimes call me 10-15 times a day.  As early as the 8am hour, as late as the 8pm hour.
