Received mail with this phone number that includes a poor quality black and white copy of the logo and had information that's been out of date for 7 years.  I called MetLife directly and they indicated that there is a team that sends out letters like this but that she couldn't validate any phone number.  
I called the number directly and told them only my policy number and last name and to document that I updated directly with MetLife, which she agreed to do.

I have gotten a few of these calls in the past week or so.  They say they are calling on my Metropolitan auto insurance and I must call in the next few days "or the deal" will be gone.
I call them and they inSIST there is no sales but a notation on my file, but firstly they want my policy number before they will even tell me what is about.
I have been on the phone with my company twice in as many days and today it was specifically to find what was wrong with my policy..Nothing.  It is current, there are no notations on my file, I am due to renew the end of May, 2014.  We were on the phone for at least 5 minutes to see...and it was determined by Metropolitan the company calling me is fraudulent and seeking to either defraud of sell me something, but suspicious because they demanded my policy number or they wouldn't talk to me.
I want to know to whom I can file a formal complaint and get an investigation into this company. From my reading, this isn't the first time this company has done it, and not just started.
Who is th company?  Darned if I know, they won't ever tell you THAT one, either!

It isn't. You have a Customer service number. Call that.

They have been calling me repeatedly for the last week. Then I remembered a letter I had received from Met Life asking me to update my policy info. The letter had the same phone number on it and it also had a internet address where you could update your info that way which I did. The letter was sent 3 months before my policy expired so I thought that was odd but it turned out to be legitimate.

Received message to call about a Metlife Policy. I do not know this number and it was blocked on the incoming call as "Unknown'. Rather suspect and a poor way to do business if legit. Policy renewal was a couple months ago. With all due respects to the folks trying to be helpful and indicating it is legit, I don't know you from Adam.

PS have seen no letters from Metlife advising they would be calling (on my business line).

It is Met Life. I did not have to provide any information as the rep provided it to me. They are just calling to see if your policy needs to stay the same or if you have any changes or updates.
