This number has been calling my mom's cell phone number and asking for me. I called them back and they couldn't find a 'record' of the phone number they have been calling. Then they asked for my social security number so she 'could look up the account that way'. Of course I said, "NO, you can't have my ssn." The lady said she is calling from 'Encore'. I asked what Encore was and she said, "we are actually a financial service." I then asked, "what kind of financial service?" She responded, "actually we are a card service." I ask, "What card service do you work for?" She said, "Bank of America." I know my BoA acct is in good standing so I know I'm pretty much sure a scam.

Ever since I put my cell and home number on the do not call registry, I no longer receive these calls. But they were a pain in the back side. Whom ever is recieving thes calls from these people, I would consider the Do Not Call Registry.

I too thought that this was a scam.  Having worked with a company that claimed to represent BofA called SST, I was surprised to get the call.  Encore did not know of SST.  I called the rep at SST and after a number of delays found out that my account had been turned over to Encore.  The people at SST are not exactly the brightest bulbs.  At any rate, I called Encore and explained my situation and  the rep was very understanding and helpful.  If your BofA is in good standing, the call may have been a mistake and you might want to call BofA to see what is going on.  Someone else may be using your identity.  Good luck.
