They said that I requested magazines and wants all of the personal information. But I did not order any magazines. Now they are charging my credit card.

My disabled son, who has no analytical skills or short-term memory due to a brain tumor, has cancelled this magazine subscription numerous times.  The person he talks to says they will take care of it but a few months later starts taking payments from his account.  The company is now withdrawing two payments a month which he cannot afford.  Thanks to them, my son's account is now overdrawn.  My husband and I cannot afford to keep depositing money to cover their overdrafts.  Our son is no longer receiving any magazines and yet the company is continuing to withdraw funds.  I call this criminal behavior!

I got a call from these people with all my current information on file. I thought it was another company I received magazines from. I had a bad feeling and called back and found out I had just ordered more magazines. I even said that I had not been receiving some of my other ordered magazines. What a scam. Said she needed my credit account number to give me a discount on my order.

They called me and said i had been paying 60$ a month which i have no record of and said if i didn't pay 30$ a months for the next 20 months that i would have to pay 60 $ a month for 20 months, they lied just to make me feel like i had to give them my information. What a scam!

Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru.
But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies.

It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!
Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!

Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!

I, too, have been harassed by the Reader's Club Home Office. I recently sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and am talking with my credit card company.
I have many of the same complaint that have been listed already (unauthorized charges (or threat thereof), fishing for information, etc.)
I found out from my family that I've received multiple calls in the past few days while I was at work, with them asking for all kinds of personal information. This is after I had a screaming match with one of their supervisors that ended with "Never call me again!"
Scammers want their money and they hope we feel helpless enough to give in. Stay strong!

I have had the same thing happen...starting today and I have already received three phone calls and been hung up on twice.  When I called back and provided my last name and zip code they had no information on me...This company claims I signed up for 20 months at $19. a month and should be receiving 5 magazines a month...I've never received one magazine and don't ever remember accepting this type of offer.  I hope they do not have my CC info...I'll be watching...

They are trying to MAKE people renew a subscription they never even wanted in the first place?!?!?!  And not even really "renew" since they never had a subscription with Reader's Club in the first place. These companies get a calling list with partial information on it. They call pretending to be the original company that has your subscription and offer you a "payment credit" to your account. Be aware and DO NOT give out your credit card info. They pretend to already have it, want to re-enter it into their system to discount your current subscription, but then renew you for a whole new one. They record the last part of your conversation saying what you will pay them and for how many payments starting that day. Pay attention to what these people are saying to you! If you received this so called "discount" or "credit to your account" call the 1-866-374-7895 within 3 days or they will try to lock you into a verbal contract. Trust me, I used to work there and know how these people scam you out of money... even people on disability get scammed into this. It's sooo sick!

They scammed me. Threaten to send me to collection, the said claimedc they have me on a recording to accept 2 years of contract but I was in Iraq on the dates they said I talk to them.
