- New Dog OwnerIt's from Sheltercare. Did you recently adopt a cat or dog from a shelter?
- viggy| 1 replygoogled the 866 area code on my phone and it came up with some large hotels in Denver, CO. It seemed as if the area code was just for these large hotels. Since I recently moved to Florida from Denver a couple months ago I thought this was very strange. Lived out there a long time and never heard of that area code. Upon reading comments, I adopted a cat from a shelter in FL about same time I started getting those calls
- C| 1 replyI got a call from this number because I adopted a kitten from Petsmart that had come from a shelter before. They geve me 30 days of free vet care in case something happened to my kitten. They called me today and left no voicemail, but when I called back, they wanted to remind me that my shelter care insurance had been activated today and is ready to be used in case of any accidents. I was also offered to extend it for another 15 days so I actually got 45 days of care for my kitten I adopted. This is a good thing for when adopting pets. I would rather adopt one rather than getting one free because it is alot more expensive in dong the spay/nuter and all shots yourself. I got a 3 in one from Tractor Supply for kittens and my kitten is up to date for a year now and with his free vet visit he came with including already nutered and all shots I only had to pay for his rabies. Very good company. And 866 is not an area code. The 866 is a toll free number.

- TeleVictimYes, it must be ShelterCare. They don't leave a message. I did adopt a pet recently from a shelter and they did include a "free" 30 day insurance policy on my pet's health. I am not interested, tho, and they continue to call. They will also spam you with e-mails, too.

We had to use the policy in the first 30 days, so glad we had it. Not sure if we will keep the policy of course.- Caller: Shelter care
- CathyI received a phone call from this number and I did just adopt a pet. Sheltercare has been sending me emails since the adoption, so it was likely them.
- Caller: Sheltercare
- RachaelThey called me and didn't leave a voicemail. So I called back. I got charged on my cell phone bill seventy dollars for calling them back because apparently, the cell phone company said this number is in China? Needless to say, I am livid.

- ChristinaI'm getting spammed with email, at work, which is odd. I don't use that email for private purposes.
At least 3 times, I have clicked the Unsubscribe link in the email, but ShelterCare does not honor their unsubscribe function.
I adopted a cat, but that was over 2 years ago. I just recently started getting the spam email.
I don't care whether they do provide some valid product or service. To me, they are just a spam company.- Caller: ShelterCare

- Horace| 1 replyAdopted a cat 6 months ago. The call came on my new cell phone number (about 8 mo of use) and that number was never given to the humane society. Left no message. The number is from Sheltercare.com (1-866-375-PETS).
I am going to let my humane society know of this behavior and ask them to stop recommending them. They would have had to go to a bit of effort to get my cell phone number. Since their business was never requested by me or by signing any form at the humane society, they are also breaking federal phone regulations on telemarketing to cell phones (the number is also on the do-not-call list). - LoganDidn't asnwer but googled the number and it brought me here. We did just adopt a cat yesterday. We previously adopted 2 cats last December and got 30 days free insurance from both of them. Glad we did, we ended up spending a lot at the vet and got about $650 back from Sheltercare between the 2 cats!
- DNCmePet insurance.
- mon replies to HoraceI agree. they keep callling me and emailling me even though I NEVER asked for or signed up for their service.
- NO THANKSYes it is pet issurance. I got my cat fromt he shelter. This company keeps calling and emailing me even though I NEVER asked for or signed up for the their service. They need to stop affiliating the shelters.
- Western Hills Humane SocietyWHHS does not appreciate being accused of giving out tele-numbers of adopters to this group. We DO NOT share adoptors/visitors info with this company.
