These callers are fraudsters!!  They come up with various ways to steal your identity and your money!  Beware of these callers.  They come in different guise and forms.

I did get a call two weeks ago  this Friday and I did not phone back not until I got a solid good proof letter in the mail from Capital one in Scarborough about fraudulant activity. I guess their was activity done on my account in the month of July. I called the number in the letter and the girl on the phone was so very nice and sweet soft voice and kind that it was me that said thank you and good bye first. She is sending a new card to me, I also I know where the activity happened. She did not want to say bye. I think she likes married men

Security department at Capital One, checking up on abnormal account activity, good to have someone watching your card for you.

It's legitimate, I complained to them about the quality of the print and the envelope...everything indicates like a fradulent letter.

Capital One does a lousy job in communicating with their customers...looks cheap

Got a voicemail from Capital One asking to call 1-866-381-0447 after making a number of web purchases.  It is legitimate, the # is posted on Capital One's website if you go to dispute a charge within your account.

The phone number is the direct number for Capital One Canada Fraud Solutions. If you Google the number, you'll see multiple references to it on Capital One's own website. If you receive a phone call from the number, rest assured that it's most certainly legitimate. Always call the number on the back of your credit card and make sure that you were called by the right folks if you're unsure.

They called for my husbands card, but we didn't who they were  because they never left a message. When we got the letter and my husband phoned them, they had already cancelled his card - even though there was no fraudulent activity. This was really a pain for him, because he doesn't have a card until we receive it in the mail - what will be 5 - 10 business days.

Not going on my list of good things cap one does.

1-866-381-0447 IS legit, but you should always call the number on the back of your CC and ask for the fraud department to be safe.

I too received phone calls from this number, followed by a letter.

As KV said, if you go onto the Capital One web portal, log in, and try to dispute a charge, you will see this number listed. I could not find it anywhere else on their website.

I received a message from "Capital One" fraud asking me to call back this number due to fraudulent activity on my card. I decided to go thru the proper channels by calling the number on the back of my card and spoke to the fraud department who told me that my card was fine and that it was good that I called them.

Same here! Got a call this morning from this number, some lady who claimed she was from Capital One, she asked to speak to my husband. I told her to call him at work, she said she didn't have that number and she can't call a number that is not on file. Right there, a little red light came on in my head. So she gave me a call-back phone # and a case # and asked for him to call back. I thought it sounded fishy.... So I logged in our Capital One online account, I didn't see any suspicious transactions or pending transactions... To be safe, I told my husband to call Capital One customer service number I found on their website (1-804-934-2010) and to tell them about this suspicious call and the case #10002052940520. Capital One told him it was a Scam, there was nothing wrong with our account/card.

Called capital one on their customer service line (not this one) and they confirmed there was a problem with our car. To be certain though, always use the number from the capital one website (or the back of your card) never call them back on the number they leave you.

A lady called this morning about credit fraud from capital one. I called back it is capital one fraud dept. Real number.

a lady called this afternoon saying she was from Capital One Fraud Department and left this phone number and a case number.  I was afraid to call it so i called the main number at the Capital one website.  They told me the call was legit, and transferred me to the fraud department.  So the number is legit.

We received a call from 1-866-519-6437 stating we hadn't been paying our bills.  They wanted to "confirm" my information but i wasn't being very cooperative.  I asked what card they were calling about, they gave me a number, i asked them to confirm my address, i was put on hold, then they came back with an address that was never mine.  They wanted to transfer me to fraud, and i asked for the number.  They gave me 1-866-381-0447.  I did not call that number but called Capital one directly and they told us it was a scam and that everything on our account was fine.

Be careful about who is actually calling, never give out details.  Take the information and then call the number on the back of your card, let them transfer you to fraud

Scammer. Beware of this caller!!!!!

This happened to me with PC only had it one day and they closed my account after I took cash out , which I was allowed to do. I’m in the middle of moving, I can’t pay anyone now… basically very upset, stressed, and feel like I’m kinda drowning, since I’ve been on the phone with them 3 hours a day and they won’t tell me whY it was closed.

Got a muffled call from a man then he apologized and hung up.

Claim an account was opened on my name and asked me if I was comfortable giving some information now. Told him no. To give his number to call him back and gave me 1-866-381-0447. Did not phone him back. Phoned instead Capital One Canada. They told me no new account.
