"Out of Area" call

This a direct line to someone at Alliance one, a debt collector.

They just called me.  Looking for my name, talking about a bankruptcy (which I've never had.)  I think they have my name mixed up.

darn rude too... i started asking questions, and they hung up!

These people have been calling me for months.  I keep telling them that I am not the person they have the wrong person, but it doesn't matter.  Some days they call 6 or more times.  I do not want to give them any personal information and thus make them more annoying on other fronts, but I wish someone could tell me how to make them "go away".  There should be more protection from these collection sharks.  IF I owed a debt, it would be different, but my name is not Carlos and I don't owe them money.  They are RUDE and ANNOYING.

Got a call from this number but didn't answer.

Okay, I called the number back and they told me that my number wasn't in their system. The lady then asked me if the person who was calling said why and I said we don't pick up the phone because it's a toll free number and she said "well maybe next time you should answer the phone" very snottily and I said "why don't YOU know why you're calling?" and she says "okay, thank you ma'am have a nice day" and she hung up.

Nice people. If I did owe them money, I sure wouldn't pay it now!

i got a hang up from this number, so i called them back. The girl was apologetic about the hang-up (said it's because it's a computer generated call)
I asked the name of the company. It's Alliance One, a debt collector. They were actually calling for a relative who lives in another town! I asked if they had the RIGHT number, she did have it, so i guess they just start calling other people with the same last name if they don't get response from the real person!! That can't be legal!

I work for Alliance one. If we are contacting the wrong person, when they call aske their name and where they are calling from.  If the phone is in your name tell them this is your phone, you pay the bill and this person does not live there.  If the phone is not in your name, have the person who name the phone is in get on the phone.
When you tell us you are not the right person and start asking questions we cant answer them, it would be disclosure.
