I have been receiving calls from 866-383-5074 for 3 weeks so far. I asked them 2 weeks ago to remove my number off of the call list because none of the people they are looking for live here with me. They are very rude and told me that I am lying about getting calls from them. I get 3-7 calls per day. I will be talking with my attorney about this matter. I take care of a 5 years old child with heart disease and she needs constant supervision, I don't have time to run  to the phone every 30 minutes and try to explain to them that only 3 people live in this house and 2 of them are under 6 years old with health problems. The  supervisors need to learn what they are legally allowed to do. Harassment is illegal in Ohio.

Okay folks, I'll tell you how I go Allied Interstate off my back. My credit is perfect but they had been calling multiple times a day looking for a relative who I haven't seen in 6 years. I sent a certified cease and desist letter to their local office. They continued to call anyway for about a month.

So, I sent a written complaint, a copy of my cease and desist letter, a copy of my return receipt, and a log of their harassing calls to the FTC, with a copy to Allied Interstate. In the letter, I requested that the FTC take immediate legal action against Allied Interstate. Guess what? The calls stopped immediately and I haven't heard a peep for five months. It was a hassle but worth it. You may spend a little on postage but this approach will end their calls if they are looking for someone else. Telling them verbally won't do any good.

I guess the question is how one defines "bills."        What happens when you paid what you incurred and asked to cancel the card and they unilaterally hit your account with fees which you refuse to pay?    What happens when you pay the balance according to your bill, and ask that the account be closed, and then never hear from them, but seven years later someone calls you claiming you owe thousands of dollars on an account that they purchased from BofA, but all of their information, including the spelling of your name, is incorrect?     What happens when you have a legitimate dispute that the woman on the phone tells you she is taking care of just to get you off the phone, and then instead of "taking care of it" they sell your account to some agency that waits for years while interest supposedly accrues enough to make it worthwhile to call you?    Bottom line, there are plenty of lawyers who will sue you for a portion of the amount recovered - - and creditors have Lexis-Nexis and other "skip-trace" tools - if you have a job, a telephone number or receive any bill or statement, they can find you if they want.   If you really owe someone money, they can and will sue you.    If you paid the debt that you actually incurred, just hang up on these people.   Basically they're extortionists - - "pay us what we say you owe on some account from 8 years ago that you either don't remember having or clearly remember paying in full, or we'll keep calling your house, maybe when your girlfriend or your parents are over."
