I was recently given my phone number when opening a new account for internet (it was cheaper to bundle the two together). I don't even own a phone to hook up the service, as I use my cell. While checking my email I noticed all of these calls from "TELEMARKETER". There have been 16 calls in a month. I am tempted to buy a phone so I can answer the call and chat with them.

On March 15, 2011 at 1:09PM (EST) I received a call from 866-385-0229. They asked me if my name was Danielle, and I said yes. The woman then told me that I had a balance of $208.18 and that she was calling from Alliance One. She asked me how I would like to proceed in paying it... I hung up.

I have been getting calls from this number daily for week and i get atleast 2 calls a day and one is always in the early morning. I am getting very tired of this and everytime I answer they never say anything. I don't know what I can do to make them stop.

These people call our home number up to 15 times a day. This morning 7/30/11 they have already called 3 times in hour and half. this goes on all day long.They never leave a message on the answering machine.Maybe they think if they leave a message it will hold them accountable for their mistake when they ask for someone that does not live at that number.I am going to write them a letter and advise them not to call back or I going to report them to the FCC for hassarement. with caller ID this is not a hard case to prove any longer..

This number keeps calling and shows as a Telemarketer.  Other post say it is a collection agency.  No one is after me, and I have blocked the call.  But it still rings several times a day.

I have found a way to get them to stop calling..

Ask to speak to the manager or supervisor in charge.  Then explain to him that you have been receiving multiple calls and that you are on the do not call list..  By law, If you are on the list, you can take legal action against the company with proof from caller id that they call multiple times per day. Its considered harrassment.  If they tell you that your number is not in their system, have them contact their I.T. dept. and have THEM remove the number.. that was the only way I got them to stop...

This number calls me at least 2-3 times a day and leaves no message...WTF...are they idiots or what???

Telemarketer calls frequently I registered for the "Do Not Call List" Doesn't seem to matter though.

They called and all I heard on the voice mail was classical music. They haven't called in awhile but today was the first time today but won't be the last!!!!!!

I have gotten calls from them and the are calling from another country. They are all Indians don't understand what they are saying. They sent me a letter with a different amount. Also on the letter it had 3 different addresses. I have filed a report to Better Business Bureau and with FTC.gov.
What it is is when you have a outstanding debt. The company or debitor will sell you debt. This company/person will buy it any try to collect it. The problem is when I called Alliance One they tried to look up my info and nothing was found. They said, it wasn't them and it sounded like someone is using their name and committing FRAUD. Never pay a debt over the phone. Always have them send you a bill. Then do research. Check the number, etc.
I did try calling the number on the letter and it went to a personal voicemail.

I have received about 4 calls today from this number and it shows on caller id as toll free call and the #. I finally answered and they asked for a relative of mine who so "graciously" gave my phone # as a back-up in case they couldn't be reached. They wouldn't give me much info except that they were Alliance One and would take my # off the file if I would give a message to my relative. They were not very nice, pretty pushy also.

this number is obviously a collection agency they asked for someone named erica zwarback i told them i am not erica and i have had this number for only a couple months but they wont stop calling .seems to me like it is bordering on harrasment

I also signed up for the Do Not Call list. Two days later I started getting telemarketer calls several times a day. I had to change my number. Seems like the Do Not Call list doesn't work.

Someone from (and I only could make out what she was saying because I had already read the posts) Alliance 1 strong south of the border accent, could only make out the alliance 1 ( I work in a call center and this person would not have been hired very hard to understand talked VERY fast)

They called on Memorial Day, real class act.

I keep getting calls from this number for Don Peterson...I had 5 on my cell phone...called it back got an answering machine - told that that NO Don Peterson had this # now or for the past 5 years...that if they called again I would turn then over to the FCC and file a formal complaint with whomever I needed to get these calls stopped.

I keep getting calls for a "Lori" from 866-385-0229.  I have told them that LORI DOES NOT HAVE THIS NUMBER, but they keep calling.  Not happy with this constant calling for someone who gave MY number!

Just tell them Lori committed suicide because of their never ending harassment and you are in the process of  taking out a lawsuit against them.

They call constantly!!  You can't understand a word they say and several people in the background yelling. I keep hanging up.
