- Kris| 1 replyThis is allied interstate--they are a debt collector usually for Government Student loans that have been turned into for collections.. Good Idea to answer these calls--They are great to work with, and you will have your loans paid off in no time.

- PThey call and leave messages now and try and make you think that it is something important they need to speak with you about. I know better, it is Allied and their marketers who just want to give you a hard time. I have had a run in with them before and they did not even know who they were speaking with just that I had answered the phone. Another time I had answered the person they wanted wasn't known by myself or anyone at the phone # and they still began throwing threats out there to pay a bill that we did not own. They are UNSCRUPULOUS. What the person above is saying is not true he/she must work for the company and need someone to say something nice about them. LOL No one else will. I looked up the number and guess what I found? Different numbers with the same problems and more.

- D replies to KrisThe loans are being paid off, so why would they continue to call, cost loan amount + an additional 25% of total loan to these [***]. The student loan program is allowing companies like these and there bylaws to rip off the american people. If you you don't pay, they will garnish wages, best just not to work, attach IRS taxes and file liens against you.
- anonymousSomeone from this company called my place of business and asked for someone whose name I did not recognize. The caller also asked if our company was located in North or South Carolina, which we are not. I asked who was calling, and the caller said, "Allied Interstate." Then he asked to speak with Human Resources. I said that we are a small company and do not have a Human Resources department. He promptly hung up on me.

- BrejeThis number has been calling my cell for the past month. Left no message, I called after looking up on here. They are STUDENT LOAN HOUNDS looking to take over your loans do NOT get sucked in by these they just up you BILLS by another 5k or so each time with THEIR added fees for HELPING YOU. Been there done that, several times.
I am already in bankruptsy and have a full physical disability and they ARE NOT allowed to call and have done so anyway. My next note and phone call is to my attorney and the PA Attorney Generals office for Harrassment.- Caller: Allied Interstate

- Serving my country in BaghdadThis company keeps calling over and over, using up the free cell minutes they give us while serving here and preventing me from calling my family at home. I cannot yet pay back my student loan on my military pay because my ex wife emptied the bank account plus sued for alimony while here so my LES's already have 50% of my pay subtracted from all the debts she ran up. Almost all of the other 50% goes to taxes. I told three different Allied collectors this and provided proof but they keep calling anyway. I'd rather take a bullet here than give them their huge "collection fees" which are not applied at all to the outstanding balance.

- Diana| 1 replyAlied Interstate at 1-877-731-9227 continues to call me in regard to my son. I have repeatedly given them my son's address and phone number where they can contact him. The contact address and phone number is the same and never changes, yet month after month they call and ask for the same information. Alied Interstate appears to be some fly by night business that has incompetent employees who cannot seem to record the information they ask for. I would appreciate if they would take me off my son's call list since they really do not listen to the information I am giving them anyway. Thank you.

- Juletta replies to DianaI sympathize with you! I'm listed as a contact/reference for my oldest son's best friend. Said friend has become swamped by too much debt and I don't even know where he is now. These people keep calling me even though I've told them I have no contact with him. One of the harrassers said they would keep calling me because I was the only contact who would admit to knowing him, and that my number was the only way they could get hold of him. I told them, through clenched teeth, that they still didn't know how to get hold of HIM, they just knew how to get hold of ME, and I didn't owe them anything, so quit calling. I'm calling an attorney next week as I'm a third shift ER nurse and sleep (or try to) during the day. They keep calling and waking me to get hold of Robbie. I feel sorry for this poor kid. He's just 18 and has no one, plus he's up against some real sharks.

- MikeThis company was the ONLY company that worked with me to pay off my student loans. 5 other companies called and hassled me. I refused their calls. And they were all RUDE. I told Allied I had dealt with other companies and they harrassed me. I told them That I could pay 150.00 a month with my bank account right NOW. I told them that I had called the dept of education. If they couldn't work with me then to hell with them. They said OK! And I had no problems after that. Like I said all the other companies wanted 2000.00 -1500.00 in a downpayment before they would work with me. These guys rock and my student loan is now in good grace and my credit score went up 60 points.

- The Chosen OneOkay, I called these people back because they keep calling my CELL PHONE during class. Yes, it is on vibrate, and the teacher can not hear it. But still - I called these idiots back, and told them to stop calling me. They claimed that I was this random person who was in dept, and needed to pay them a certain amount of money. The next day, they called me four times. I called them back, they claimed I was a different person. (Blaa, blaa, blaa). They call me more and more frequently now. I can't block them though, because it costs money and I am not willing to pay. This has been going on for about 3 years. I am sick and tired of it. In addition, I DON'T HAVE STUDENT LOANS! I win.
- AlfalfaThe next time they call, inform them that by continuing to call after they have been REPEATEDLY told that you are NOT the party they are after, they are in violation of FDCPA and TCPA laws and you are filing a lawsuit against them...and you will WIN. Be sure and keep a record of all the calls:
Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.
This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc. NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls. In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc. Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.
David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors. Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call. Judge Davis wrote;
[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.
Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.
So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?
1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.
