When I called back they said they are calling about a website I visited recently re Rent to Own properties but I don't remember visiting a site like that.  I would suggest not answering and certainly not giving them any information.

He is making stalker type phone calls, if you have visited or placed a ad on Craigslist he has captured your phone number. And the calls start.

We got him to stop, by emailing him a copy of the FCC Federal Laws about using the internet to stalk someone.

Called after looking at a website for rental properties, they claim they need your # in order to verify that you are not an automated system.

I've had two calls when I couldn't answer the phone - no voicemail left. I can ignore this, though it is a pain.

The automated service stated they are creditrepair.com.

I called the number back and it said "this call is going to be recorded" so I just hung up!

they called me several times but when I answer, no one is there.  I was looking at rent to own website the other day and input my phone number...according to the called above, this is probably why I am getting these calls now.

Irritating call from this number.  It is apparently a number for someone looking for a rental but unsolicited.  it is in response to being on a rental website and the calls and emails fly from this place and the credit repair companies.  Obnoxious.

I gave my number wanting to receive rent to own property lists as well. I got a call from a very nice guy asking no personal information, just general info on how bad my credit is. After a pleasant discussion about the good, bad, and ugly of my credit (Again, with no more personal information asked, I don't give it out AT ALL) he said something about using a prepaid credit card from their company that he could send free along with a pamphlet on answering questions about getting credit in order for a home loan. He said something about prepaid cards, if done right can improve your credit score. One of the questions he asked was if we had bank accounts and since we truly don't I figured that would have ended the call right there if they were scamming. No Visa No money for them over the phone. Not like I would ever do that anyways. Anyhow, he was very nice and seemed extremely helpful. I asked him what his company was called and he proudly said Credit Repair. I usually feel as though I'm a good judge of character right off the bat. I can read people well, either they are an honest company or fantastic scammers.

I'm glad I didn't get 'the heavy breather' That's crazy.

"Con man" is short for "confidence man", they're called that because gaining your confidence is a key part of the game. A good con man will get exactly the reaction you had.

I kept receiving calls from 1-866-399-2076 recently. Since my phone number is only for emergency and is paid by minutes, my number is not told to any other people execpt my family. Somehow the 1-866 company/person got my number and I believe they know nothing who they are calling.

I visited Rent.com but they start call after i call to T-mobile customer service and gave them my Google number. Since then i start seen this number (866) 399-2076  in my missed call list almost everyday.

I called the number back and it is a rent to own company. I told them that I was tired of being called and never having anyone on the other end. He appologized and said they use an auto dialer and sometimes it doesn't connect you to an agent. I told him that I was not interested in getting phone calls, he offered to take me off their list. really nice guy.

I been recieving the same calls.  Just few minutes ago I recieved another call from them and I ignore it.  It is a rent-to-own company.

Called,I answered. The man pronounced my name wrong and before i could correct him he hung up.

dang !!..and I though I was getting a call from the company I applied for !! hahaha

ownerwiz - rental to own scam...

Yeah, we did look into the rent to own thing advertised on Craigslist too. And now, we get dozens of phone calls from this same number: With a little tracking we found out the owner of this phone number, runs a sleazy, slum lord property management company in Portland Oregon. This is the only way they can drum up business for themselves is to hook up to a rent to own scam. We called them back, and told them they have been reported to all the government agencies, and we followed up with a certified letter informing them we were suing them in court. This seemed to work, they stopped calling ASAP. Here is their information:
