This is Not A Scam!! It is a legitimate call from Asurion , concerning the return of damaged AT&T  equipment. They follow up on the return of same after sending out the new replacement equipment. It is automated and not at all harassing , took all of 30 seconds to answer the prompts to let them know when our damaged equipment would be in the mail to them.

Scam... My account was hacked and someone sent a new phone to new York, I live on the west coast.  I have never never had AT&T call me unless I requested it.  They asked me if I wanted to file a claim, and be transferred to the claim dept.  If it really was ATT, they would have known that I already filed a claim.

BE CAREFUL! This phone number is really ATT BUT if you did not break your phone, have it stolen or lost the phone, chances are you were hit with a scam that someone got your social security number and cell phone number(s) and had reported your phone as missing and ordered a new phone. This happened to my mother recently on her family plan and I found out that someone called in pretending to be my mother and claimed my daughter's cell phone was broken and had a new phone mailed to another state. We do not know who got my mom's information or my daughter's number but my mom suspects it may have been a scam call from someone claiming to be ATT and got her information that way. We had ATT straighten it out immediately and my mother was refunded that costs the other person was wracking up on the new cell phone. PLEASE beware of these scams guys! Good luck!

I got a call about returning a defective device.. Here's the strange part.. It is June, and I filed a claim in March, the phone was returned in March.  I called the number back but I hung up the phone when they "couldn't find my account" and wanted more information including ss number.. I called ATT and got a different number for ASURION which is the Insurance company they use.  888-562-8662.  ASUIRAN did verify that they recieved my phone back in March and they were not sure who the call came from.  I would not give them any info as I think it is a scam.

This must be a scam! I have not used ASUIRAN for any claims and called the number back from my Verzion cell phone! It answered automated saying welcome to AT&T and pulled up my account information using my called id, It knew my number, and currant address!!! My Verzion cell phone is on a family plan out of state! I have had this number for over 10 years... BEWARE

This is not the number for ASURIAN. I called AT & T on their regular customer service line. They said that the Asurian number starts with 888, not 866. The customer service rep confirmed it is a scam. I also called the 866 # from my work phone and while it said AT & T, it didn't sound the same as the actual AT & T number. They tried to keep me on hold for a while, probably to steal info...it'll be interesting if "Adam" starts calling my work

They left a voicemail claiming to be from ATT and needing me to return my defective phone.  It's a scam.  The robo voice even recited my phone number at the end of the message.

call from Adam about not receiving returned phone. While there was a claim filed on the phone with # as message stated, the call back was to my work landline which is not associated with this account

IMPORTANT!!!  This is a scam.  I called them back and they claimed to be AT&T.  They could not pull up claim without passcode.  I refuse to give out passcode to anyone.  So I hung up and called AT&T to get the correct number to call their claim department. AT&T doesn't handle claims and stated they would never call about a claim.  Claims are done through Asurion at 888-562-8662 NOT 866-402-4525.  Asurion assured me they did not call me and that they had no reason to call me  because I am in good standing.

Yes, Yes, Asurian via AT&T regarding an insurance claim.
Legit.  Or, maybe not... I took a message.  The "hawaiian" person above this post seemed to do his homework.

MAYBE THIS IS A SCAM now that I've read all of the posts.   -Who Knows.  They can write me a letter if they have a problem with an insurance return.

    Wontbe Fooledagain
They called me in late June 2016, but I never answered the call.  I did, recently, request an insurance replacement phone, through Asurion, for my broken AT&T smart-phone; however I can't guarantee that this call was legit, as others who received calls from this number indicate suspicious behavior from the caller (for instance, asking them for their Social Security #).  It could be a scam operation, so beware!  It's always better to hang up and use the internet to find the actual phone number of the company, and then call "them" instead of allowing "them" to call you.

P.S.  Remember that your caller I.D., on your phone, can be spoofed by scammers to show any number they choose.  They could call you, and make your grandmother's phone number show on your caller I.D.   ... so, even if you see Asurion's phone number on your caller I.D., that doesn't mean that the call is truly originating from Asurion.  Even the number showing on your caller I.D. could be bogus.
