Someone by the name of James Mill called me today saying that his message was intended for me (my first and last name) and the he was contacting me because they had received an order that was submitted to his office this morning.  He referenced a claim number as well.  He said that he needed to verify an address for my home and place of employment to send me my formal claim at my residence and my place of employment.  I will have one opportunity need to contact the firm handling this matter and they can be reached at 1-866-413-4038.  He said my name and that, "you have officially been notified."  When he paused between speaking I could hear the background noise of a call center, it seemed.  And he called from a different number than he referenced above (it had a 202 or 240 area code). When I called the 866-number it was to a company called Midwest.

Kenya: I got two messages from a different guy, sounded like he said his name was Todd.  He left the same exact message!  He had a very stern voice and the 2nd time he said, it was my FINAL notice!  I called the 866 number back and got a recording saying that the extension 310 is unavailable and to leave a message.  So, I did!  Told them to quit calling!  Also, the phone number it was dialed from was 813-200-7236, which I called and the same guy's voice said, in a voice mail, "You've reached the investigation department, please hang up, do not leave a message"  If I am wanted so bad by an investigation department, why won't they answer?!?! I'm going to call 8 on your side news channel!  This is not only harassment, but scary!

Got the same exact message as Kenya did. These mother f'ers never give up. We all need to file a  complaint with the State Attorney's General's office. These scam artists need to be locked up! They called from a number in California....and gave me the same number to call back. I sure hope nobody falls for these idiots.

All you have been officially notified of is that a scumbag debt collector has access to your personal information and is moonlighting as some sort of legally operating entity that is going to proceed with some sort of action, presumably legal, against you.  

Report the call to your state's Attorney General's office.  Give them both the number that called you, likely a spoofed number, along with the number that were you told to call them back on.  I assure you that there are many more complaints -- legitimate complaints -- against these entities for the actions they have taken directly against consumers.  

I understand that there is a need for collections agencies.  I understand and appreciate the fact there are legitimate offices that employ hard-working, ethical people and they do not go out of their way to intentionally mistreat or demoralize the debtors contacted.  It's a business; not a very popular one but a business nonetheless which is lawfully afforded the rights to operate in the state(s) they are licensed in.  

Companies like these give real collectors a bad name.  And not just a bad name, but a frightfully awful bad name.  If you are a legitimate collector reading this, please do not take offense to my comments here as they are not meant to be a generalization of all collection agencies but rather the ones that inhabit the far corners of the earth and have no regard for their fellow man.  

its a company called Midwest (debt collection) PEOPLE, THESE TYPES OF CALLS R SCAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!  its a call center that purchases ur name from old debtors hoping you will still pay them, maybe even forget that the debt was paid off already. don't buy into it. TELL THEM U WANT IT IN WRITING WITH A CERTIFIED LETTER AND U WONT HEAR FROM THEM AGAIN! problem is, if 1 of these companies has ur name, number and info, a few of them also have it. you might later down the road get a similar call from another company but just do the same thing each time u get a call like this
