Student loan spam. Claims to be following up on a letter they had previously sent, which I never received, about a repayment plan that they thought I might be eligible for.  Showed up on my caller ID as 208-825-3316 but that was apparently spoofed as the message requested I call back at 866-413-6776.

Thank you for using the site correctly and posting in both threads.  It will be very helpful to others receiving calls from that number and being referred to this number or vice versa.

A v/m message appeared in my phone without a call being received. Claimed to be Michelle calling about a letter that was sent recently regarding student loan debt and repayment options I might be eligible for.  Have received computer generated messages like this in the past. "Michelle" said to call 866-413-6776 and use reference number SL14401.  I'm posting the reference number so others can see if they are being given the same reference number.

Michelle Taylor left me a voicemail about a letter (that I never received) stating there are other programs available for my student loans. She never mentioned her company or that she was with AES. I called the number back, followed 1 prompt. The company is Student Loans of America and I was able to press "9" to be removed to their list. No idea how I showed up on their list anyways.

Student loan repayment scam.  I reported to U.S. Department of Education, my State Attorney General (AG) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as well as my wireless carrier’s call protection service.  Plus I blocked them.

Here’s a copy of their message via my wireless service message transcription.

““Hi this is Michelle Taylor calling in reference to your student loans I follow up on the letter we sent regarding new repayment options that we believe you're eligible for I'm in the office until six today give me a call back at 866-413-6776 your secure approval code is __14401 I look forward to speaking with you soon thank you…””

I received the same call.  Obviously scripted because the message was verbatim with the same call back number and reference number as listed in your post.  Caller ID  showed number as 1-860-554-8260.
