- Chris replies to 111| 3 repliesI can only wish this number calls me!!! (1-866-416-3470) because I've waited for years for them to do so. To anyone that reads this, if you get a call from them & you're someone who has previously registered to be part of a Class Action Lawsuit...
ANSWER THE PHONE! lol More than likely it means they're trying to reach you regarding settlement/cash payment in suit! - Joy replies to Chris| 2 repliesI got a check today $25.80 from Transunion Corp. Privacy Litigation but I never filed a suit and couldn't figure it out and when it said For Deposit Only I thought a hacker wanted my bank inf. So not sure if it is a scam or on the up and up.
- vic replies to JoyYes I received the same check today. Going to deposit it tomorrow. I don't think they can access your info when you make a deposit.
- Nunya Bizness| 5 repliesI also received a check in the same amount. The check looked fake and didn't have a watermark or anything that would prevent fraud. I may use it to open an account at a new bank in case it is a scam of some kind.
I never received a phone call, unless they are so unprofessional as to not leave a message. Just got the check in the mail. - vic replies to Nunya Bizness| 2 repliesWell I went and did it I deposited it today.
- ed replies to Nunya Bizness| 1 replyHow did you make out? I got the same phony looking check, that says deposit only, and got the heebie jeebies about this
- ed replies to vic| 1 replyAnd? Legit?
- ed replies to JoyI got the same check, I'm going to the bank tomorrow and asking if it's legit, and unlike others, I"ll let you know exactly what was said, happened. If it's legit, I can buy my mansion of my dreams wooo hoooo
- SheilaYesterday I received a check in the amount of $25.80 from Transunion Corp. Privacy Litigation. I don't ever remember filing a Class Action Settlement Claim. Strange it's in the same amount as Joy above. Vic stated he didn't think that depositing such a check anyone could access your info. 1) when you deposit it you have to sign your full name and bank account number on the back of the check. That's more than I want to give any scammers. Going to get advice from my bank before depositing it. Hoping they've heard whether or not this is legit.
- LaurieSame here
- vic replies to edWell ed I deposited it yesterday and I haven't gotten a call from my bank yet. So we'll see tomorrow.
- concerned| 1 replyMy fiancé got the same kind of check in the mail yesterday for $25.80 from Transunion Corporation privacy litigation and it also said deposit only. well what if you don't have a bank account? how are you suppose to cash it ?
- Caller: Transunion corporation
- Sheila replies to concernedGoing to my bank today and asking them if they know if this check is legit.
- Sheila| 3 repliesTo all above who are concerned about this Trans Union Privacy Litigation. Go to: http://www.listclassaction.com/
It seems legit and the class action was taken out in 2008 and the telephone number listed on the website is the same as on the letter. It seems no one thought to call this number. I just did. Listen to it and it explains why you received a check. - gary| 1 replyThe problem starts when you try to get in contact with them because of an error in the spelling of your name on the check, I received mine the same time but last name misspelled, called the bank listed they have no knowledge of this corporation, called the court and the clerk hung up on me while phone number and the website give the same information but no way to get a live representative to help clear problems, Transunion had to go through 3 levels of representatives supervisors to get a number to call for help and currently awaiting a call back from them, the for deposit only also concerns me as to why the check just can not be cashed it's like they want your banking information for it is sent to them once their check clears your account on the bottom of the check(look at your cancelled checks to understand what I am saying). However the case is real, confirmed with the courts in Illinois and you can get the copies of the complete settlement online if you want to copy or just read
- Sheila replies to garyIt's the same with any check you deposit. Your account number and bank info are stamped on the reverse of the check being deposited. I have often received checks that can only be deposited into a bank account. If you don't have one then you have to do it through someone who does have one by signing over the check to them. My name was spelled correctly (and everyone usually gets that wrong!) even my middle initial was correct. If you look up the case as stated in the letter attached to the check there is such a case. Anyway, deposited today and cashier looked at all my checks and no mention that this one didn't look right. Time will tell.
- Joy replies to Sheila| 2 repliesThe thing I questioned when it said That I submitted a claim. How did they get my name and address? Haven't done anything so far with my check. Did stop by my bank but only tellers were there and they said looked like a real check. So many scams anymore you are afraid to "bite"
- ed replies to edTorn up and put in the trash! Sad state of today's world when first thoughts are of low life scammers trying to get your account info. Only good thief is a dead one
