- ChuckCPA replies to JSHere’s my standard advice regarding unidentified callers...
Never, EVER, give out ANY information about yourself or your household over the phone!
Just don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. Your friends and relatives will leave messages accordingly. Ignore calls from those you don't know. And don’t waste your time on “do not call” lists and the like. These lists have a bazillion legal loopholes, and the callers are usually scofflaws anyway; they couldn’t care less whether or not they’re breaking the law.
Only when we take the profit out of these calls will they stop! - JCalled many times in last couple of months. Did not leave message. Did not answer. "Toll free call"
- Caller: ?
- Karen NYThis number appeared on my cell phone ID. When I answered, they transferred me to another person who wouldn't identify what company they were calling from. Her name was Brenda Sullivan ext. 3376
They only had bits and pieces of my information and could not verify my full name, my full birth date and my full SS#. They threatened to forward my information to collections on something they claimed happened back in 2002, unless I paid them over $400 that instance.- Caller: Would not identify themselves
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mr DThey are Credit Control. A collection agency. Start off being very nice then become jerks. Two people I spoke with were Ava and Lee.

- Barb replies to FrankStatute of Limitations is different in every state. I'm pretty sure in Illinois its 5-7 years, but I saw it somewhere it could be up to 10 years. Never ever give out your social security number or any personal information over the phone.
- amyCalled my house.... Not okay with that. Its a scam wanting information not giving any information out.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

- Burlco48They left no message. The FCC no longer takes complaints regarding the phone scammers who robodial your number then neither leave any message nor talk. Worse yet, some states such as NJ, no longer take complaints about DNC violations and the robo-rectums know that thus our elected legislators have given them a blessing to continue annoying us. So, to make it even worse, the phone provider profits by providing service to the scammers and won’t shut them down as it would be lost income for that phone provider who also know the robo-terrorists are out there just by monitoring the bandwidth they utilize. And the phone provider’s even make additional money (via charges for opening new services) by switching the roboterrorists outgoing lines so a complaint about any particular number would be meaningless once the roboscum feel it’s time to spoof another number du-jour. Folks, it’s high time to fight back – contact your phone service provider and request to make your number a toll number for incoming calls from any “Out of the Area”, “Unavailable”, 800, 844, 866 or 888 numbers, so when robocallers attack your privacy then they must pay you for your valuable time. And for paybacks – identify the roboscum and supply their mailing address to every junk mailing firm possible as there are lots of postcards in magazines.
Contact your legislators to stop the robocallers – send them a complaint every time you get a call. Tell them to stop the scumbags or you will elect someone who will! And why not sue the phone providers for their inaction to pull the plug on these phone terrorists as well? A fantastic class action suit awaits a great attorney team on this one, because it appears that neither Federal nor State authorities give a damn to protect us and openly permit the phone companies to continually profit from your life being interrupted. I use a Panasonic KX-TG6844 phone that can block 250 numbers. The cost of $111 pays for itself if you use Verizon’s Call Intercept service (a $9.99 per month ransom plus federal and local taxes) in a year and you can drop the Verizon intercept service.
Contact the Consumer Union (Consumer Reports) site www.EndRobocalls.org and sign their petition to pressure the phone companies and lobby the government. It won’t cost you a cent! BTW, recent news articles (early July 2015) indicate Verizon is going to screw us more during their attempt to deregulate communications services and fees which could cost us more by buying into their anonymous call intercept useless service, etc.- Caller: Unknoiwn Rectums
- Burlco48| 1 replyCalls every-other-day and they have yet to figure out their number has been blocked so I know it's a machine doing their dirty work as the lazy thieves are (as-usual) looking for easy prey to scam. I have contacted the Consumer Union (Consumer Reports) site www.EndRobocalls.org and signed their petition to pressure the phone companies and lobby the government. You can do the same - it won’t cost you a cent! BTW, recent news articles (early July 2015) indicate Verizon is going to screw us more during their attempt to deregulate communications services and fees which could cost us more by buying into their anonymous call intercept useless service, etc.

- THUMPERI don't owe any bills, so they are calling a wrong #. I will block this #.
- Caller: 'UNAVAILABLE'
- Burlco48 replies to Burlco48They are calling on a daily basis and haven't got the brains of a dead cow to figure out they have been blocked for the past 3 months.
- A1These idiots call- I answer- they hang up; say they are credit control. They are calling a business number for a person who doesn't work here.

- SUNNY BOY replies to T Menking| 1 replyDear, this is not a place to write your college thesis!
- AsteroidI have them blocked already-Now they tried calling me with a prefix of "011"-designating an overseas call-unfortunately for them, I have "011" calls blocked also. No idea why they call me. I am retired and have my house paid off, and owe no bills.
- Caller: WE WON'T TELL
- TGot a call from this no. I didn't answer it. Then they immediately called my cell. I blocked the no on my cell. After reading reviews have no idea why they would call. Any debts I have are current and a past bankruptcy protects the rest. So.. Just don't answer if you don't recognize the number.
- Caller: Unsure but others say debt collectors
- PuppyLove5Some guy called me knows my name and address but he asked for me not giving me his name and he told me he couldn't tell me no information unless he knew it was the person he calling for. By then he already told me my address but I thought he couldn't give out info. I told him I have important things to do and he said I have till 4 to call back. Is this fraud or real?
- T2nd call from this company today. They never leave a message. I called my attorney and was told not to answer the call. I filed bankruptcy 7 years ago and it is illegal for any creditor from that time to contact me. She also said these people move around and try to get money from you illegally. Have no idea what debt I supposedly owe but want to take the call just to see what kind of crap they are throwing out.
- Caller: Credit collection
- TUpdate. I called this number back from both my home and cell no. They told me they were trying to reach Laura Sewell. Not me of course. I've had both my numbers for years. So now I've got yo check for identity theft and fraudulent activity. They would not give me any other information regarding why they were calling Laura Sewell.
