866-417-8537

I received a letter in the mail from "American" saying that I won an award for money to fly on any major airline, worth over a thousand dollars. But I never entered to win an award and these people are obviously not American Airlines or any other company I know of. They said they have tried to contact me several times and this is their last attempt. If I don't call them at 866-417-8537, they will give the ticket vouchers to "the alternate."
This is the sneakiest scam I have ever seen. People like this demand a phone call and then charge hundreds of dollars to you while you wait on hold. I don't know how they got my name and address but if I find out they will be hearing from me.

I received the exact same letter in the mail.

There was no return address on the envelope but it was post marked from Phoenix,AZ
There is also no address on the letter head simply the word American with a generic logo and signed by "Juli Cole" Vice President. A google search of her name resulted in zero results of anyone who seemed to be the Vice President of anything.

I got the same thing, but didn't call to find out who they are.

Same kind of thing - exact same decsription as what was mentioned below.  postmarked 8/15 from Phoenix Arizona.  I live in Salt Lake City and recently returned from a trip to Ireland and Scotland.  Wondering if we all could mention something recent so we can identify what we have in common to have received the (obviously bogus) letter.  That's really the only flying I've done recently End of July, early August.

I got the same thing in the mail today and I also live in Salt Lake City. The signature is really crappy too. You'll notice it runs over the title of the person. A professional would not do this. I emailed a copy of the letter to the attorney general uag@utah.gov

I also received a letter date August 13, from Julie Cole stating I won 2 tickets to fly on American with a award over $1000, stating they have contacted me several times and this would be the last attempt.  I have not flown anywhere in the last six years and wondered how they got my name.  I too, live in Salt Lake City.

sounds like I have the exact same letter and also live in UT.

Live in Utah, Letter postmarked 15AUG2013, received the 19th of Aug, from Phoenix AZ, I know this is a scam, I just really want to call to mess with them ;)

Yup, I got one as you all have described above, I feel jaded as I thought I was special.

The difference, I do not live in UT, but in Delaware. I do not believe that I am ever that lucky, so I did not call.

I will be sending my letter to AMERICAN Airlines, I am sure they will be interested that so many of us will be flying for free with them soon.

The toll free # given to me was 866-417-4699.

Me too-too, only difference was the envelope was post marked 19 Aug 2013.

Found this info.

I also received the same as all the attached below. Mine is dated Aug 19,2013.
South Jordan,Ut

I got the same letter postmarked August 19th. I live in Utah as well. The phone number they gave is different. It is 1-866-480-8992.

Same letter.  Juli Cole.
866-417-8537  dated August 12th.
recently learned that harbor freight had a security breach and lost a bunch of personal information was contacted by my credit union and told to come get new cards.. ..  I wonder if this is related to that.

Same letter addressed to my husband dated August 19, 2013 we reside in PA telephone number listed for call back is 866-477-0558.  Reversed searched number several ways with no returns.  Same American letterhead and post-mark.

Just another attempt to lure people to a high pressure sales presentation for their travel club with "free" tickets that have so many taxes and fees associated with them that it is probably not worth wasting your time to sit through the presentation.

I got the same letter as all of you.  I live in Utah as well, Davis county.  I don't know how they got my address or my name, but I"m going to monitor my credit cards and debit card transactions like a hawk.

The number they want me to call was 1-866-480-8992.   Apparently I had won two roundtrip airline tickets.

Super shady stuff.... some weak [***] generic "American" company?  With a logo my 4 month old could create.  No return address on the envelope.  These people are beyond stupid.

Then "Juli Cole".  Vice president.  Vice president of what?  A Scam?

Anyway who do we report these dumb [***] to?

I received the same type letter with a contact 3 of  1-866-477-0558.

I received the same form letter as others have described on this page dated August 19 except the number to call was 1-866-8992.  I too live near Salt Lake City, Utah.  I recently purchased airline tickets from American Airlines and had a problem, so I was very skeptical but almost lured in. Ugh!
