The number answered with an automated voice requesting 3 pieces of identification starting with my card number.  I hung up since it was an obvious scam.  A real bank would have identified itself on the phone and would not handle something like this with a text message to my cell phone.

I got a text message from these people on my sprint cell phone on 05-18-09 at 5:47pm Kansas City time.  The message was not sent from a PHONE, it was sent from the sprint website or from an email address, as evidenced by the sending address of fnsjxt@messaging.sprintpcs.com.  Obvious scam, as any REAL company sending you a text message would not have to go to sprint's website to send it.  Not to mention, the message reads: "Ecount-Citi-Prepaid has SUSPENDED your DebitCard. Reason: ATM FRAUD. Contact us immediately at 8664206819"  I don't even HAVE a Citi Debit Card, not to mention the fact that a PREPAID DEBIT CARD is a fictional item.  Debit cards are linked to bank accounts, PREPAID refers to a credit card that is secured by a deposit on file with the crediting institution.  REPORT THESE SCAMS TO THE FCC, LAW ENFORCEMENT, ETC - the do not call list only protects you from REAL BUSINESSES that wish to abide by the law, these scammers don't fall into that category.  NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD AND/OR PIN OR ANY OTHER IDENTIFYING INFO TO ANYONE WHOSE IDENTITY YOU CANNOT VERIFY!

Got text page on business phone.  6p on the 18th.  Same thing ATM Fraud .....  CITI... Suspending card... Please call 866-420-6819.. Same as the rest up there in the list.  I don't have the number tied to any credit card.  Besides CITI hates me and would never give me a card.

I received txt message stating "Eccount-Citi-Prepaid has suspended your debit card.  Reason: ATM fraud.  Contact us immediately at 866-420-6819.

Obviously this is a scam.  I disregarded!

Got text page on Sprint mobile phone.  11:38AM on 5/21/09.  Same Fraud .....  CITI... Suspending card... Please call 888-641-1914.. Same as the rest up there in the list.  I don't have the number tied to any credit card.

I just now got the text. It states

"ecount citi prepaid has suspended your 480156XXXXXXXXXX debit-card. contact us immediately!

i didnt even get the reason of atm fraud lol


different number than what is of concern here..so i'm assuming they have many numbers to utilize.

i dont own a citi card
I dont now, nor have a ever owned a prepaid card.
i dont have any card for that matter with those numbers..besides, it's the last 4 numbers that would show up rather than the first many numbers. I guess they are relying on someone to be a blithering idiot?
