This number is actually suggested in a text message about "suspicious activity" on a bank account. When you call, it directs you to enter your social security number, driver's license number, bank account or credit card number, etc. At the end of the call it says something like "restrictions have been lifted." I called this number anonymously to be able to report on what it is. Please, do not fall for this scam!

I too received a text this am from same number saying "detected suspicious activity on WellsFargo acct". Wanted credit or debit card number when I called.

I received the same text message. I became suspicious because the account in question is a mortgage account only. Thanks for the information.

You DID fall for it.  You can't call a toll-free number anonymously.  Blocking your caller ID does NOT prevent your number from being known to the owner of a toll-free number.

Expect to receive a lot of junk calls in the near future.
