- Desert Turtle| 1 replyYesterday morning I received a call (in AZ). A message was left by a man with a very heavy accent that sounded like an Eastern Indian or Nigerian from this number. I didn't pick up the voice mail until some hours later & of course I was skeptical. I screen all of our calls anyway. When I have a very hard time deciphering what is being said that I have to replay the voice mail 2-3 times to try to understand it, that's a real problem. I also take issue when the caller can't pronounce either my first or last name, claims to be calling from Bank of America "about an important service matter." It was quite a lengthy message surprisingly even with days & hours of operation. But I'm not calling back any number that someone leaves supposedly from the bank. I phoned the bank's main number on the back of my card to speak to a real customer service agent. "It's a good thing I didn't call that number back", the agent told me. "That's what they want you to do." He checked the records for all of my accounts & noted that they were all fine & that there were no messages left in the cue that anyone had contacted me for anything. I asked him to report the number to the fraud department. Nice try....
- Caller: 'Supposedly' Bank of Amercia
- Dawn replies to Desert TurtleI received the same call today. They had my husbands name and mine. She said she was calling from Bank of America and would need to verify my husbands DOB before continuing the call. Dead give-a-way. You called me and your my credit card company and I have to tell you my DOB...NOT! Please be aware of these calls and NEVER, NEVER give personal information.
- Rob S.Several CallerID listings for this number have shown on my phones. The caller leaves a message that they are, purportedly, calling from Bank of America--yet, several times there is no message, or if the call is picked up there is a disconnect or a recording asking "hold for an agent" which ends with a busy signal and a hangup/disconnect. These calls start at 8:00am and run a cycle of three between my home number and 2 work numbers until 5:00pm--it can't be BofA or a collections call, collectors aren't allowed to call debtors places of employment in California or they get heavily fined.
- Caller: Bank of America (?)
- Call type: Debt collector
- WayneI just got a call from them and I'm not calling back. Sounded like a complete scam. They said they were from Bank of America.
- JimboGot 2 calls this week with shaky sounding gal that had a slight accent and sounded like they were reading from a script. Called BA. She called it and said it wasn't from them. Block this number from your phone as I just did.
- old galreceived a phone call today from this number, came up not provided. Did not answer but they did leave a message on our service. The man gave his name and that number and said there was a service issue and to please call back. Gave bank hours of operation, etc. My husband who is recovering from two different types of cancer called the number and got a woman who said she could help. She said she just needed some information to identify the account. He gave them some of our information but not all because at the same time he was on the phone, I looked the number up on this site.I told him to hang up.
BANK OF AMERICA verified, it is NOT THEIR NUMBER.
We have spent the better part of this morning alerting the bank, the bank fraud division, I have a called placed to our state attorney's office, FTC, FCC and so on. Be aware that another number of 866-575-9070 is also being used. Please be aware, these folks are good.- Caller: NOT PROVIDED-bank of america
- ConcernedClaiming to need my social security number. BEWARE! Branch office at Bank of American claims they never ask for your social security number.
- Caller: claims Bank of America
- SandyBOA for my husband to call. Then why did they have my phone number?
- SandyBOA Bank of America- second call I got. for my husband to call. Its my phone number. why didn't they call him? Scam
- Caller: Bank Of America
- GinaThis number called my cell and employer. The caller told the receptionist to have me or my husband call back as it is Bank of America. Why would a company call my employer looking for my husband?? I called the number back and the first question is, "can I have your bank account or SSN?" NO WAY! Total scam. Beware!!!
- LizHave received multiple calls from this number on my landline with no message left. Tonight they called my landline, which I did not answer, then my cell phone. Concerned that it could be something important as the caller had both of my numbers, I answered my cell. The caller claimed to be from Bank of America, with a "service issue," and just needed to verify my DOB. I told him I did not want to give him that information and hung up--glad I did, but it is creepy that these people had both of my numbers!
- LCI have gotten calls from this number on a couple of occassions. They also say they are BofA. Like a poster before me, heavy accent and could not understand the voice messages left. I have gotten to the point that if they can't hire people that speak English well enough for me to understand, I don't talk to them, much less call them back or give any account info or other personal information. If this BofA, I don't want to discuss any account matter with you as I don't have an account with you, so go jump off a cliff and save me the trouble of throwing you off.
- Caller: Bank of America
- TeriCalled twice today. No message
- Bill| 1 replyDO NOT CALL AGAIN OR I WILL CALL THE POLICe
- JohnI received calls from this number and the party on the line identifies the call as coming from Bank of America and asks for my personal information. I have declined each and every time to give them my personal information.
- KimI spoke with someone on the phone this morning from this number, and then I just verified via Bank of America's chat service that it was indeed them who called me. They are calling to collect a credit card debt or missed payment. Not to say that some other people could not be posing with this number, but in my case, it really was BoA, and not a scam. And, he was very nice to me!
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Debt collector
- Durka replies to BillI'm pretty sure they aren't reading this. Also pretty sure the cops don't care who is calling you.
- SteveAs Kim indicated, it could have been a legit call (I had forgotten to make payment on my BofA credit card - oops). HOWEVER, when I called BofA directly, they claimed they would never ask for my account number or social security number the way that the caller did, and in fact thanked me for not giving it out. So I'd suggest if you get this call, check that you haven't missed a payment. But still never give out your personal information to a stranger on the phone.
- Busy at WorkReceived call from this number at 1315. After reading notes here, I called the number back and Bank of America answered. After confirming my first name (which was all I provided when asked) the BofA person confirmed they were looking for someone at my phone number with a different name.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Debt collector
