DHL called to let me know that I had a package (yes, a real one) that required a signature which would be delivered the next day.  This is not a scam.

It may or may not be DHL--I don't expect a package from them, so this is damned suspicious to me, and I'm blocking it.

It's DHL. Expecting an envelope, that comes delivered by someone from DHL.

DHL automated call to let me know there is a package on the way, that may need a signature. This is an expected package, so a legitimate call.

Not a scam, but possibly a wrong telephone number entered into their tracking and automated notification system. I called their Customer Service to give them the recorded tracking number and that is what happened to me.

I received such a recorded call.  DHL delivered a leather bag I ordered from Facebook and it came from India.  I told the driver about the call and that I searched it on Google and seemed like a fake call.  No comment.  So legit delivery.

It's legit - just unexpected. DHL Courier with information on an inbound international shipment.

Legitimately DHL, but useless if you have VM since they simply keep yapping and your VM picks up at some point in the message, but not the start. Be smart on their part to arrange the message to have the most useful information at the end with some "yada-yada-yada" at the start to cover the vagaries of AM or VM. Not at the end...

It's usually to warn you about an upcoming delivery. They're not saints:  it costs them a lot to do the delivery and have to walk away to do it again if no one can sign. But it can often help you too so I s'pose that's cool.

By the way, DHL may or may not be the real company behind the deliveries, but the trucks always have DHL all over them. When they come here at least.

Remember, of course, nothing about being a legitimate number prevents someone of the scummy sort using the number (spoofing the Caller ID).

Watching the house for a neighbor for which they are expecting a delivery. Normally UPS, FedEx or the worst of all On Trac, but why take the time to call if your not going to leave a message and use a CID that mentions who you are??? Skeptical.

Some pre-recorded nonsense I could not make out. Caller ID listed the number twice.

Totally legit. DHL called today and left message to expect delivery tomorrow and "may need signature". I went online to DHL.com and not the www. they gave in the message. I entered the tracking number  that was included in the message which is the same as Waybill # and the info was there. I also called them to ask if it was possible to expect delivery from the U.K. the next day after ship date.  They said if clears customs then yes. I also told them to drop off the package if not home to sign.

This is probably DHL. I received a call from this number very early Saturday (didn't answer, I was asleep...) and got a truncated message that was missing any relevant tracking information. I do have a package coming DHL Singapore Express, so this call isn't unwarranted.

I'm not sure why they would use a system that ignores automated answering messages (it's not like these are new) before speaking, and I'm not sure why they simply don't use the email provided on the waybill instead of trying to call people at weird hours.
