They are a scam.  Do not pay them any money

Do not give them money.  They are scammers.  They say gas and electric but don't give the company name and they say you need to pay by 3pm or you will be disconnected.  If someone tries to pressure you into making a payment immediately, you should always use caution.   Hang up and call your utility at the phone# listed on your bill.  So many people give their hard earned money to these scammers everyday.

calling saying you have a past due bill with the electric company and are going to shut off service if you dont pay $498
before 5 pm we will shut off electric service. they tell you to make a cash payment through cvs is the only way to stop the shut off . dont listen and call your utility dept to report the scam.

THIS IS A SCAM. Rotten-hearted thieves. Caller --- with Asian accent --- identified himself but garbled the name, said he was calling as a representative of BGE and gave me a garbled ID# (BGE is Baltimore Gas and Electric Company). He said he had an order to turn off our electricity and that a truck was on its way. I told him I did not believe his story and would call BGE myself. Hung up on him as he tried to say more. Couldn't stomach him another minute. I called BGE and spoke with a customer rep who confirmed that BGE has no connection with this kind of turn-off order or the 866 number. I gave their security department all the information as well.

It breaks my heart to think that some people (the ones who can least afford it) are going to fall for this.

Scammers. Gave them fake acct number and they said it was correct and told me I owed a $1000

Big time scammers, they sounded legit at first, I needed to go to Walgreen's and make a "same day payment"  he had a mexican accent said is name was Mr Martinez, he even had an "Disconnect truck" call me to confirm the green dot  card #. I was foolish enough to get the card and give him the #. Luckily i figured it out within the hour and was able to keep them from collecting the $ from green dot. Green dot put the funds back onto my debit card.
