Seen that too, but we all know scammers do multiple type scams, so it is plausible. Why else would that shill try a silly stunt like saying it was on a list?

Called/did not leave a message.  Collectors  keep calling my number for someone named “Chris.”  Blocking the number.

I do not answer phone numbers I do not recognize. There are many scam callers in the US. Please be careful.

I wouldn't worry a bit. Those are all unbased threats and she will not come after you or your family. It is against the law.

Called me, didn't leave voicemail. I do not answer calls I am not expecting from unknown numbers.   Appears to be a debt collector for medical debt.  I don't have ANY debt and haven't for years.

Those people will say anything to scare you into paying. Block the number, unless you receive a paper bill, ignore.

I've recently been receiving lots of calls from this number, and I finally answered after researching that it was a bill collector, and knowing that the only bill it could be about is a medical doctor's bill; that I've communicated with for years, sending paperwork proving that I have no insurance, on a low fixed income and cannot afford to cover the entire E.R doctor's bill, and instead of working out a small pymt plan with me, they decided to turn it over to these rude and obnoxious collectors who feel that they need to bully and harrass people into paying. In the past year, I've worked with several bill collectors who were kind, understanding and willing to work out a pymt plans that fits my budget and those are now happily resolved. Immediately after paying those off,  another collector called and was also kind and understanding, and I'm currently paying on that debt. So, I don't run away from paying my bills. I simply decline to be disrespected; he kept cutting me off, and when I brought his rudeness to his attention, he hung up on me. There should be stiff or stiffer laws protecting consumers from being harassed & mistreated-- along with huge fines given to Debt Collecting Companies/Individuals that  encourage and/or allow their staff to use bullying/threatening/rude tactics in order to collect debts.  Kindness, flanked by empathy and understanding is a much more effective way to collect debt. I know, because I had to collect debt working in my family's Law and Dental practices back in the 80s, and ppl were happy to pay. Yes, I will be filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's office, as EVERYONE else should do also, until that company is put out of business or changes its method to a more positive way of collecting debt.
