No I received a check in the mail with this phone number on it, saying it isthe number for the central bank in Tampa Fl. Not a bank in Tampa with that Phone # attached. When ever I recieve these checks in the mail I always' contact the bank give them a heads up. I know it is a fraud

I received a check in the mail with this phone number on it, saying it is the number for Central Bank in Tampa Fl. GFK Mystery Shopping from Burlington, ON Canada sent it to me, 1-905-920-4939. The real number for Central Bank in Tampa is: (813) 929-4477. The check amount is $4,880.00. The check almost looks real. No return address on the envelope. Thank goodness for the internet!! It's 3 am right now, I'm going to call Central Bank latter on to give them a heads-up, maybe they have some kind of reward for me? I doubt it but I hope I can help them catch a crook.

I RECEIVED THE SAME CHECK .SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY 4880.00 FROM CENTRAL BANK IN TAMPA FLORIDA.I CALLED THE NUMBER APPEAR ON THE CHECK 1-866-471-8238 THERE WAS SOME LADY ANSWER IT AND TOLD ME THAT THE CHECK IS VALID.but i still not convince.SO I GOT ON MY COMPUTER AND DO SOME MORE SEARCHING AND I FOUND THIS MESSAGE.IF YOU THE 866 NUMBER IN OFF HOUR ,THE RECORDER SAY IT CENTRAL BANK.SO I WAS GONNA WAIT TILL TOMORROW TO CALL THE REAL CENTRAL BANK AND HAVE THEM VERIFY THE CHECK.So watch out for these fraud.DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT.IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO HELP AUTHORITY TO CATCH THESE SCAMMER.

Well, in my ongoing quest to find legitimate "at home" employment, I've been screwed many times!  However, if I had fallen for this one, it would've been the "Mother" of them all, and it would've cost me $4880, or more!!

Today I received a letter, and a cashier's check, telling me I had been chosen to be a mystery shopper.  I was leary, as it seemed too good to be true.  I called the number listed on the letter, and was told to deposit the check into my account, and then call back for instructions.  Hmmmm......  So, then I called the number listed for the bank on the check itself.  I was told the funds were available!  Still not convinced, I Googled "Central Bank, Tampa, FL".  I found the website (it had the same bank logo as the check), but noticed the 866 phone number on the check was not listed on Central Bank's website.  So, I called the number listed on the website, and was told the check is fraudulent!!  That was close!!  They almost got me!  So BEWARE!!!!

I received the same letter and cashiers check today.  The check looks real, and has an official bank seal, The Bank of Cattaraugus.  

Is there any authority that I can report this to?

report these matters to the attorney general in your state.

I also have a check, but the amount on mine is $4,760.00 and the bank is Treasure state bank of Missoula,MT  and the company that sent the check is Focus On Quality INC.  I looked on the website and didn't find a number to call.  I did a search my the number on the check and couldn't find it.  I also searched the number on the letter and it came back as a cell phone number.  the provider is Fido Solutions and the location is Oakville On, ON.  The number is 289-888-2537 and it is an unpublished or unavailable number.  It also said due to number portability, some numbers have been transferred to a new service provider.

I own a check cashing business. A customer gave me a check with this # on it from a bank in Indiana, not florida! Check was for  $4965.00 from Detailed Evaluation, Inc. . All I can say is scam scam scam!
