This is for sure a scam. Damn usually I am pretty good at sniffing these things out but the scammer made it sound like our company owner had previously signed up for this and that it was a renewal. So I get the invoice in the mail for $500, pay it (foolishly) and then get two more invoices in the mail from 'Direct Market Link' and 'Direct Services 411' for $500 and $750 respectively. Both invoices have my name on them as well as very similar addressed to the first invoice from 411 Directory Assistance, leading me to believe with certainty that they are all connected. After all, how would they have gotten my exact name without a phone call or at least an address?
Good job 411 Directory Assistance, you got me. Do yourself a favour and if you answer the phone and these jokers are on the other line, tell them to f--- off!

They change their display names/ numbers frequently; so to get people answer their calls.

I was scammed yesterday, APril 22.  I consented to purchasing a one year ad with 411.ca for a cost of $614.00 a year.  THis morning when I called 411 to verify if it had been them that called they had no record.  I cancelled my MasterCard because of it.
The people told me that the name on my MasterCard bill would be Sterling Industries or Sterling Business, can't remember.

Even on this message board people are confused! 411 is a term, there is no "real" 411 website. Canada411.ca 411.ca are all owned by the Yellowpages Group. 411directoryassistance.ca is just another on-line business directory. My buddy is a plumber, he uses all of them, even canadapages.ca.

Pay attention to your calls, if they hang up when you start asking questions, it's a scam.

get calls from 411 directory assistance saying that there is an invoice of 367.50 that is past due, then after phone calls they send a fax demanding final payment in 5 days or they will turn over to 3rd party collections

I often get calls from this number/ or whatever call directory. They call with patterns either in the morning/ afternoon.
The caller tried to ambiguously tell all the details.
My store has nothing to do with 411 directory/ Yellowpage.
We mostly ignore types of calls like this one.
Who knows they are/aren't scammers.

They're still calling me.  From the comments, people are constantly confusing 411DA.ca with 411.ca.  411.ca is a legitimate directory.  "411 Directory Assistance" is counting on you assuming that they are 411.ca and signing up with them as well.  I was on the phone with them originally for 5 minutes before I noticed she kept saying "411 directory assistance.ca" (which is how they are not, technically, a scam but do absolutely rely on you making the assumption they are someone else).

after tricking our manager they sent us a bill. I asked who authorized complementary year of advertising and they said no one they don't need authorization. I said I wanted to listen to their taped conversation authorizing the free advertising and argued that they needed us to authorize it first and that they weren't getting paid because no one from our organization gave them permission to start with. Now we are supposedly being sent to a third party collection agency ….scam scam scam
why don't these people go get a real job???  

This is a telephone scam and made up some BS story this is a house and they got their message wrong.   I get this call all the time and they keep changing their number or try to mislead you into believing this is 411 service which it is a SCAM!

Hang up, probably computer dialed. They will now NEVER reach me on my cell phone because I have added them to my contacts under SPAM and my custom ring tone for SPAM is silent.

Just received a call from this number.  But I never pick up a call from an 800, 866 or 888 number.  It went to the answering machine and someone hung up.

except they call "to confirm your info"but don't tell you they are offering a paid listing, and then bill you. SCAM

Called the number back and asked the lady who answered to remove our number from the list she then rudely gave me the excuse that there is no list and the system uses numbers listed on 411 and hung up on me.

While at first it seemed scammy, it's definitely from a real company.  The problem is after I looked into what they were selling I'd rather pay for either getting a listing on the Yellow Pages or on Canada411.ca.  Same price, better listing and more people go to those sites than they do this one.

Legit or not it's simply not worth what they're asking.  I'd never heard of them before which doesn't bode well for for a business hoping on a listing with this site that will drive customers their way as it's just not going to happen.

Same idiot called me. Suggested we had a year complimentary and we have had 'unusually high # of hits'. Thankfully, I know who we have signed up with and who we haven't. This company was NOT one of them! Wanted $600+ to renew. Told him no, and listeded as he protested "Are you sure" as I hung up. Definitely a scam. Mumble something about 411.ca, actually called 411 Directoray Assistance.ca. (Pretending to represent a legit company like Canada411 Yellow Pages which we do subscribe to.) Get these fake calls during the year.  Calls intensify the last and first few months of the year to scam companies it's time to renew their Internet Directory search.  The same scam, we either offered the first year free or renewing the service.   We paid for the service last year and owe money approx. $575.

Don't get fooled or even bother answering these calls.

I've had them call before, ID'd themselves as 411.ca, (though i also got a call recently from "yellowpages.ca", supposedly) Same scam, I think - different numbers. This one called yesterday, and I told them the owner was away, to stall for time, so I could check here. Rule of thumb. If they're asking for money, the answer's no.
