Recieved a mailing from Motor Vehicle Services.  They had my exact payment amount and the time I have owned my vehicle.  It stated "Extremely Urgent and Time Sensitive"  and said something to the effect of "Thisi s to inform you that your factory warranty has expired or is about to expire."

I have a valid warranty already on the vehicle.

Is this a scam??  At first I thought it was from our state department of motor vehicles but I am positive it isn't.  The number given is the number on the mailer.

This is a "real" company under different names.  I received one of these a year ago, my warranty hadn't expired!  I did some research and found they use different names and numbers for their company and advertisement.  I filed a complaint at that time with the BBB for mispresentation and using scare tactics.  Apparently, it didn't make any difference as I got another "URGENT" doc. from them again today!   It looked even more "official" than last time - but I know I have another year's warranty.  I called the number to make sure it wasn't my dealership and the guy got very pushy and aggravated.  Don't bother with them!!

THESE PEOPLE ARE A SCAM! They know nothing about you other than your address and that you just bought a car. They sell warranties for like $2-3000 and buy them from other companies for about $800. They tell you they are good anywhere, when theyre not. Most mechanics dont like the coverage because they try not to pay when your car breaks down.
    DONT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE

I also get their letter today. There was no address etc so I come to know it is from some company that want to run away after taking your money. Never give any penny to any such guy. I do not like most of the car warranties because they do not cover the things that actually needs repairs, for example: Gasket. :)

I also received letter in the mail yesterday for the Motor Vehicle Division. on this letter which I though was from my local DMV, scared me into thinking my factory warranty was expired. I called the 866-503-4680 number and a guy answered. He was extremely pushy and assertive. When I declined, he demanded to know why I wanted to decline the ridiculous offer. He continued to get more agitated so finally I hung up.
American Auto Shield is a scam. Please do not fall victim to their aggressive scare tactics.

Scam someone else. not going to work here.

Yep this is a scam or at least scare tactics which means I would never deal with them.

Front of letter as wrote to me:
    Motor Vehicle Division
    Vehicle Document/Alert Notice
    Personal & Confidential
    2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
*Also has the 'American Seal' on the front

You open it and it says: Motor Vehicle Division
    ***Extremely Urgent and Time Sensitive***

Not one thing says what company it is from, I Googled the number (1-866-503-4680) and it is these people: www.enterprisewarrantyprotection.com

I knew right away it was not my DMV, but the outside makes you open it because well you think its time to renew ones tabs...NOPE just these idiots taking up space int he mailbox. Deceptive mailings like this should be illegal. It should have to say the company name and nowhere on mine does it say 'enterprise warranty'.

Also remember people Warranties they bet you will never make a claim, especially a big one...but when you buy a warranty your betting you will need to make a claim. they are in business like a Casino is in business they don't make money of winners but that of losers. Yeah, yeah there is always a person that gets lucky...but as a whole you will never have to make a claim for what you paid for the warranty. But if you feel better at having an extended warranty get it from the manufacture of YOUR vehicle. Also remember you can haggle on the extended warranties. I get very few of them, got one on the wives car to extend it to 10 years 100K miles because she will have the vehicle for at least 10 years....even then I don't believe in them and will we ever make a claim for $2K...$2K I can fix myself a lot on a vehicle. *shrug* So they probably made $2K on us.

I recieved two letters from these people....who do NOT identify themselves....offering me a warranty on the used car I just bought.  Any company that doesn't put its name on its stationery is a red flag.

Got a letter from them today with this phone number on it. Just had a different letter arrive yesterday from another company with the same thing (different phone #), claiming my car apparently needs a warranty. The very bottom says 'not affiliated with dealer or manufacturer' and there's no address at all. Also, it's addressed to me "Or Current Resident," because apparently if I move my car gets passed on to the next current resident. This has 'scam' written all over it - what legit company can't even be bothered to put their name on a piece of paper?

Got a letter from Motor Vehicle Division with eagle logo. looked very official.
My first thought was, where did they get my information from??? They knew my name! They knew the  model and make of the car!
I just moved to Cleveland and I suspect Ohio BMV is leaking our personal information.

This type of scam still going on.  We got a similar letter from "MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION" today with the American Eagle seal, with the phone number 877-214-0344 to call for extended warrantee.  The letter looks official, we first thought it was from Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV).  Did a search for the MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION and glad to find this thread.  The letter is going to the trash can....

A similar letter reached my mailbox today, with a highlighted bold RED statement: REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION **Please respond within 5 days** in the card. It also says, " THIS POSTCARD will be OUR ONLY ATTEMPT to reach you via mail; Your file on this vehicle will be deleted within 5 days". Their contact number on the card is 866-621-2265. In the letter, the phone number is 866-503-4680, and there is a code under MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION: MVD2214022.

So glad Google helps link the number to this thread, so I can throw it to trash can feeling safely. LOL.

This is indeed a scam.  I've received two or three offers from them.  The first one trashed it without even reading it.  The second one has the American Eagle seal and indication of official business with a fine print indicating fines of up to something like $25,000/$250,000 or 6 month prison if not opened by the addressee.  The first thing I did was Googled them and discovered that they were scammers.  Gave them a call and see what they have to say.  Once they knew I was on to them, they stopped wasting their time with me and told me to throw the letter in the trash.  Even they know the letter is not worth the ink was printed on.  I just received a 3rd offer in the mail yesterday without the logo and I just torn it up and threw in the recycle bin because that is where it belongs.

Peter I just did a Google check using the tele no 866-621-2265 and believed it was a scam for the start.  If I were a really old person and just purchased a pre-owned vehicle I might become scared and fall for this ruse.  It is to bad the government agencies dealing with fraud do not take these so called MVS to court.  I hope others who receive this same post card will call and harass these guys/gals.  I believe I will call and see what they have to tell me.  Thanks for the heads-up.
