Don't know who they are.

Just to clarify, Phillips and Cohen the debt collection agency is different from Phillips and Cohen the law firm. One is a debt collection agency based in Delaware; the other is a legit law firm based in DC and San Francisco. It's not that a debt collection agency pretends to be a law firm - they are two separate companies, with no relation as far as I know.

*ask them for a website. All law firms or true debt collectors must have one by law
*ask them their address
*their attorneys bar number is?
*ask for letter to verify debt.
*can u record the call?

If they cant do any of this, ask them if u need to fax in a letter for cease and desist or will they accept verbally. Report to attorney general, better business bureau and fcc. If they call after all these is followed you are entitled for a law suit.

Advanta killed themselves.

1st They didn't have the $'s to back the credit they gave out. (Getting caught at this caused their downfall)
2nd Instantly canceled ALL business CC's without notice. (May 2007 or 2008 I believe)
3rd Then they instantly jacked their APR to something like 37 or 39% without reason or notice.

They left a lot of small businesses in the lurch by doing this. Small companies that used that card
to build / grow their business, suddenly didn't have the credit to continue, and some failed because of it.

Shame on them, and shame on the scavengers that are attempting to collect on these old accounts.

Also, it was the website Legalzoom, that pushed and offered the card on their website,
when you were doing a start up company. (Creating an LLC an such)

All these debt collectors don't get is any credit card debt is an unsecured loan.If you have the stomach,you can wait them out and don't pay them.They will screw up your credit,You have to weight how much that is worth to you,

they keep calling and i tell them wrong #, well the guy was very rude when I said I told you so and so does not live here, he got rude and said I did not ask you that, I said F**K you and hung up!!! So tired of being harrassed and nothing gets done!!!

After reading the post from "LAMET" on June 16th 2010, I was able to get the fax from one of their employees. Vincent Foster ext-1127. It matches the number in LAMET'S post. This gives me reason to believe the info in that post. THANKS!

They are senior citizen's predators. What a ripoff. They call 90+ year old people and they go on and on about debt they don't have then they asked for their social security number. SHAME on you nasty people. One day you will be old too and will pay for what you have done.

This number called the office. Any call that begins with a "This call may be monitored/recorded" boilerplate immediately triggers my suspicions. I told a lady who identified herself as Karen that my boss wasn't available and I'd take a message. She gave the company name so fast as if she didn't want me to know it, so I made up a name to get her to repeat it. After researching the number here, it's probably safe to ignore this call.

Note: This number was given as the callback number with an extension of 2248. The number on caller ID was different; so I'll post an entry there, too.

Carl Zimmerman left message on my voice phone to return his call at 866.504.9784 x 2289 and reference case @21055095 regarding a debt.  No prior written notification.  Did not have my name.  THOUGHT IT SUSPICIOUS.

The call was sometime 30 March 2016 morning (time unknown because 'time and date not set'.

You can easily do this yourself by utilizing the information CWG40 gave you by sending them a cease communication letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested. If they continue to call after you have proof they received your letter, you can take them to court.
