Calls for "the person in charge of the late ______________"  Leaves a reference number and to call as soon as possible.  Never says company name, just the caller's first name.

Same as this one.  Very fishy. Caller identified himself as Ernest Harris.

Got the same message, but the caller was Kristin.  No company name given, and came up on the caller ID as "out of area".

Same here...asking for the "late" and using my former married name...very strange...i havent picked up or called the number..yesterday i received the same exact thing but from a woman yesterday and a man today stating he is Ernest Harris and leaving a file number....I forget the womans name from yesterday but it was the same thing except today he said it was regarding an important estate matter...

I've received numerous messages on my home phone from these people, following the recent death of a parent.  Today, for the first time, the caller left the name of the company, which is West Asset Management.  I "Googled" that name & believe this is a company that buys bad debts & then tries to collect.  Not sure, but that's what it sounds like to me.  Naturally, I won't call them back & I never answer my phone if I don't know who's calling.  The fact of the matter is, if there's a bad debt to be collected, they can send something in writing.  Otherwise, they'll be ignored by me!  Never can tell what you're getting into if you respond to these kinds of calls.

I rec'd one last night from a female whose first name I understood (Kimberly), but last name sounded corny (Yakabubu).  I called the number back and it said it was from "West FM Mangement" and their hours were 7AM-8PM M-TH, 7Am-5PM F, and 7AM-Noon on Saturday.  (All Central Time) I assumed it was regarding some credit card my mother had active when she died recently.  I have not got ahold of them yet.

From the infamous Hanna Family of notorious debt collectors, WWAP is a bottom feeder debt buyer incorporated in NV and run out of Marietta, GA by Frank Hanna (brother to Fredrick J. and his son, Tye Hanna).  The Hanna organization has a tainted reputation for lies, my experience has taught nothing this organization says or does should be taken at face value; anything and everything should be challenged including any court filings and credit bureau reporting. WWAP is a bottom feeder debt buyer of old portfolios that may be totally lacking in legal validation and possibly out of statutes. The Hanna reputation has always been one that is tainted, dating back more than twelve years, so anyone dealing with WWAP is warned to be very cautious. Paying WWAP will not help you or your credit reports.

My father-in-law passed away in June. I am located in a different state and the phone number is in my name. Plus my number is suppose to be unlisted. To date we have received 15 messages asking for the person who is handling the estate of .......... There is no way that I am contacting them back but wish they would leave me alone.  They have called just about every listing with our last name trying to get ahold of someone.

They are a collections company and federal law dictates if you want no further contact all you have to do is call them and request it.  This law is called fdcpa, or fair debt collections practices act. Even if the debt they are calling for information on is yours they still have to respect the request.  You dont have to give personal info or anything.  Just tell them the number you want no further contact on.

I got the same message as the rest did.  "Keller" was the only name I could make out.  The woman who left the message sounded like she didn't want to be understood.  Very creepy, sounds like a scam...

i received a call from Misty about the same time frame in regards to my late father. I called back and told her i was not in charge of any of his affairs, and had no idea who would. i never heard from her again.
