I received an email from rogers.email@rogers.com with this phone number saying... An important security update to your Rogers email account.
    Rogers
Important: You must update your Rogers email account settings.
Protecting your data is as important to us as it is to you. Rogers is making several security upgrades and implementing a new authentication system to further protect you and your data.
Rogers requires you to update your email settings to continue using your email account.

It only takes a few minutes of your time to ensure you have uninterrupted access to your email.

If you KNOW who the number is, why are you here? Just because it was legit for YOU does not mean it will be for everyone else

I got the exact same message on my rogers email. I looked up the number it says to call for assistance.  That number, 866 515 3047, apparently comes from Dearing, Kansas.  I'm pretty sure Rogers is not calling from Dearing.  I'm deleting the email.

Definitely a scam - did you click on the MyRogers chat within the email?   If you notice, the domain is "email.rogers.com" rather than "rogers.com".

    It's still ultimately rogers.com so I'm not that convinced it's a scam.

Called Rogers on their line 1-888-ROGERS1 1-888-764-3771. They checked the phone number in the email (1-866-515-3047). IT IS LEGITIMATE! The email is from them, and not a scam.

All you have to do is call Rogers and ask them!!   The email is legit.... it is for ppl who use a 3rd party for emails such as Outlook.

My recent message to these people who are pretending to be Rogers:
"Please stop bothering me with your fraudulent email requests to change my passwords.  First off, you don’t know my name.  Secondly,  your domain name is not Rogers but a clever look-alike, thirdly, your telephone support number is known to be associated with IRS and loan scams, and finally, what kind of Rogers email security enhancement requires that users trust an ‘app’ password that they do not create or control themselves but is generated by you?"

Think about it folks.  Either this stinks or Rogers is really and truly inept.

I got the email from Rogers and had the same concerns about legitimacy. Why didn't they just use the 1-888-ROGERS-1 number? Spoke to THAT number, the main number which I trust, and the tech said a lot of people have called to make sure it's the real deal. It is.

And if you don't do the password thing by July 1st, you won't get your email on your computer if you're using older mail programs, like Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, or Outlook.

I've seen other posts where people said they got calls from this number and it was a telemarketer. That might be because overseas call centres can spoof phone numbers.

How do know it's Rogers? Just because they say so? Maybe they are phishing for your info.

Rogers has done a terrible job of trying to convey the message regarding the password upgrade. The email they have sent out does look suspicious and most people would just delete it. Especially since it has the "email.rogers.com" link. It is a legitimate message however. Go to the Rogers.com site and it is there. The phone number that just called and never left a message, well that just adds to the confusion? Rogers has messed this up big time.

Agreed. The E-mail definitely looked like a phishing attempt. And Rogers did do a very poor job with this whole business.
    But it is legitimate...

Got the email and sllent phone calls but had another issue and called Rogers direct.  There is message when waiting in the queue about changing the password and confirmed it isn't a hoax with 2 Rogers direct employees I was dealing with.  Agreed that their notifications could have been handled better.
