- Steve replies to NikkiIt's Scholastic Books. My wife bought books for our daughter last year, now they call all the time and send unwanted books and DVD's hoping we keep them and not send them back in the allotted time so they can bill us.
My wife and I have told them several times to stop, but they keep calling and sending books. - Anna replies to NikkiI was recieving the same calls, i called and scholastic said that it is a telemarketed calling through them. Just call scholastic and ask to be removed from their calling list.

- teresaThis number called my house on 12/30 at 8:30 a.m. No one said anything, so my husband called the number back. He was very ugly with the lady and told them to never call his house again. They called again today. Do they not get the picture?

- PhxDesertRoseI've received several calls from this number and the same for me......they never leave a message. Important note for those of you who receive unsolicited merchandise from Scholastic...I, Too, receive merchandise from them. You legally don't have to pay for, or return any unsolicited merchandise from ANYONE! If you didn't order it, they can't legally make you pay for, or return it! SO KEEP IT! But make sure you didn't order it! and send a letter with "Certificate of Mailing" stating that you 1) didn't order it 2) won't pay for it 3) and won't return it and 4) any further merchandise received will be considered a gift without further communication or acknowledment of receipt. And, of course keep a copy for your records.

- silvermisti receive calls from this number all the time. they keep calling my cell phone, because that's the number i used when i ordered some books. when i answer, i get no response and they never leave a message. i'm glad they don't have my home phone. i'm just going to change my cell number. they sent more books, but i didn't request them. i will pay for what i ordered, but i will not pay for what it did not order. i will follow the instructions of "PhxDesertRose" by sending certified mail stating that i did order the books, won't pay for the books and will consider all unsolicited items as a gift without further communication or acknowledgement.

- kylie| 1 replythis number calls me every night at 230 AM!!! i have children i did not order any books or whatever its crazy i cant believe people are so low to bother a family in the middle of the night its got so bad that we jsut turn the ringer off every night!
- Abby D replies to kylieThey call me at school on my cell phone even though I've never used it to call them before. How did scholastic get my f*king number???
- IvanaI also get called twice a day from these people! once in the morning and once at night. I never answer because I did order something from scholastic, we paid for it and then I canceled my subscription and I got a bill for something I never even received or ordered! I should not have to pay for something I did not order especially if I already canceled my subscription.
- Mad MomMy minor son's cell phone received a call from this number at 8am on a Saturday, and they left an automated message about an account balance with SCHOLASTIC BOOKS under someone else's name and address. I called and complained, and was assured no further calls would be made. He received a second call 7pm the same day. I called first thing Monday morning and got grumpy with them. I told them about having seen numerous forums on the internet about people answering calls from this number, with no one on the other end, and that I was concerned there was some sort of scam going on. The supervisor told me "We're having problems with an automated collection calling system and we're trying to work out the bugs". I reminded her that if others are receiving these annoying calls on CELL PHONES, that people will be incurring incoming call charges while Scholastic is working out "bugs"; and that the calls need to STOP until the bugs are eliminated.
One customer service agent said nothing about "bugs" in the system. She explained that the automated system is designed to dial several numbers at once, and as soon as ONE of them is answered, the others are "dropped". What a lovely invention.

(I was transferred THREE times before they finally turned me over to a supervisor named Carol) Don't let them try and tell you it takes 24-72 hours to process -- Make them stop the calls immediately.- Caller: Scholastic Books collection

- ticked offThey have called for months. I have a box that catches them on the first ring and tells them that we do not want calls from that number. They still call, and call, and call. They do not observe standard calling restrictions for calls - we get them past 20:00 hours. In the past, answering the call only ended with silence on the other end.
- JaneThis is not a telemarketing call, it is actually a COLLECTION call. Someone with that account has a past due balance, and legally Scholastic can call you 3 times a day for each acct that has a past due balance, any time of the day or night, until a payment is received for the account. You must call the number back.
When ordering something, read the fine print. You have always placed an order for something to be sent out, scholastic will not send out books unless they feel that there has been an order placed. sending out a "certificate of mailing" will not stop the calls, nor the books being sent out.
just call them back and give them your number their hours are M-F seven am to 9 pm central time and saturday 8-5 central time. - bob smithJane you're an idiot - Scholastic can't legally call you anytime.
The is something called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act; a debt collector can only call between 8 am and 9pm. There are also various other laws such as they can't purposely harass, threaten, or use profane language with you.
If Scholastic is undertaking such actions; then report them to your State's Attorney General, State Senators and Representative, along with the Federal Trade Commission. Also send Scholastic a letter via registered mail to inform them that they are to cease all communication with you - by law they will be required to end all communication.
If you're in Texas, then note that scholastic is in blatant violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Just because Scholastic types something in fine print - that doesn't make the contract legal; as a result Scholastic can be sued in Texas courts for monetary compensation on all violations.- Caller: Scholastic
