They called. @4:16pm Thursday Dec 29.  After 7 seconds, a Young Male Voice said, "What the Hell?" You could hear other male voices, laughing in the background.then silence, but the line was still connected.  
after 34 Seconds of silence after that, I hung up.

I then dialed *69  a recording of "Consumer United",and some elevator music played, before  a live person answered the line.
 I said "who is this?"   He said he was from Consumer United, and told me my first name, and that I recently got an Auto Insurance Quote, and he asked me, who I am currently Insured by, I told him," I don't believe I will be giving you that information", with that he said,
"Well then we can't do business together then. I will take you off 'THE LIST', and told me to have a wonderful new year DEAR". and hung up.
  I've never been called DEAR, by a telemarketer(?) before.  SIR, or Mister, is usually more appropriate.
Bogus I say. If they were for real, then they would already know who I am insured by, don't ya think?

If they were my employee, I would fire them for using foul language, and addressing people inappropriately.      

Scam of some sort. Don't give them any Information about yourself.

No, they are not a scam, they are a legitimating auto insurance company. You are the d-a$$ who tried to get an auto insurance quote online
