I keep getting these same calls but for someone else and it's not even someone who used to live here. I block the number and have peace for 3 or 4 days, maybe a week. Then it starts again with a different number. Last check I have blocked 7 of their phone numbers. I'd like to know how to get rid of them permanently without ever talking to them.

send them a bill for the call blocking and use 28% interest per annum and add some admin fees for your time and processing of the call blocking, invoicing etc.   At the end of 30 days when they haven't paid you, send them to collection and have a collection company calling them.  You will at least feel like you've created a nemesis loop.   Perhaps they will pay someone with a few brains to clean up the data they are using instead of wasting their time calling the wrong households.   Just sayin'......

The statute of limitations in Ontario is 6 years for any debts placed into collection prior to 2004. Anything after 2004 has a SOL of only 2 years. I spoke to a lawyer regarding these scumbags.  :)

This Activ Capital is what everyone says "collections,debt recovery,etc." here are some more phone numbers they use 866-916-1093 , 855-839-9148 , 855-848-9148 , 519-963-5001 , 519-963-8038 , I  wonder how it would work out if everyone getting calls from these numbers started calling them at all hours of the day. Would they be able to handle the call volumes? Would they get the hint that it is impossible to answer the phone when it only rings once? There  is nothing worse than getting phone calls in the early hours of the morning when it rings once and they hang up,then they call from another number.

And yet another call from Aktiv.  These guys never give up, and I am now in my seventh year of constant calls from them

I tried the being polite route with them until one day when they told me ( exact quote) that it was my own damn fault that I was handicapped. Then a couple of days later when my homecare nurse answered the phone and explained that i couldn't take the call and asked them to call back because I was in the middle of my treatments and she was my nurse, they called her a liar.  Then they told me they were going to clean out my bank account.

Next time they called I told them I disputed the bill they said I owed and they still had not produced a copy of the original document bearing my signature that I had been asking for, that they cannot threaten court action unless they actually intent do so and have a court order against me, and that even if I did owe the money ( which i disputed) that the Canada Disability Act states that ODSP disability is exempt from collections ( and actually read that entire section of the Act to them and supply the weblink so they could read it themselves) and I also read the statute of limitations act to them, AND THEY STILL CALLED ME A LIAR AGAIN !!!)

After that for a long time I either ignored the calls or picked up and hung up immediately after when they started calling up to 13 times a day and the calls were starting to caome back to back some days. Obviously it wasn't working so I started picking up and then just leaving the line open while I went about whatever I was doing and that didn't work either.

What did seem to cut the calls down though was when I started picking up and asking them about the weather, chattering on asking all kinds of questions, telling them about the great new bathroom bowl cleaner i just discovered, how my son was doing at school, etc. without giving them a minute to get a word in and then thanking them so much for calling cause it gets kinda lonely being a shutin, and I always tell them I'm looking forward to the next call so we can talk some more.

When I changed the subject to politics and rambled on about Robo Calls and the election fraud and other political issues and tried to engage them in conversation everytime they interrupted me it seemd to work.  I must have bored them to tears because ( I tried)   now they just hang up after a couple of minutes and they've knocked the calls down to about three times a week over the past month. LOL

I think that, although they annoy the hell out of me, that they are finally starting to realize that I will not engage in a conversation of their choice, they will not get the chance to direct the way the call is going to go, and that I can talk politics for hours non stop if they want me too....LOL

Sorry, but after seven years of threats, insults, and everything else they could throw at me including calling me three more times in one day after I explained while in tears that I had just returned from my sisters funeral and even told them they could read her obituary online if they didn't believe me I have had enough.

I have never dealt with such ignorant, mean, uneducated people in my life.

If they want to play games... I have no problem playing my own.  The more of their time I can waste the less time they have to harrass someone else.

In Canada, If these people call you and try to collect a debt that was incurred 7 years or more then they are not within their legal rights to do so. If they do call you, don't admit there is a debt just say to them "stat barred" and hang up the phone. They shouldn't bother you again.

These guys are full of empty threats, they are trying to collect on a 4 year old bill says they are calling for the "legal division" of the company LOL cause I so believe they would have the lawyers wasting time making collection calls. It's past the SOL I'm not an idiot, I've been disabled for months. These guys are really earning their minimum wage. Scum of society taking their anger out on the fact that they have no education or contribution to society on other people. Get a life and maybe people would respect you. Or hey stop buying junk debts dumbass!

I have my own VOIP system at home. I have created a selective call forward for all of their numbers. Now when they call me I have them forwarded directly to the Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs direct line. Can't wait to hear back about them freaking out on him and accusing him of being a liar and all the other illegal tactics they use....I will let that run for a week or two and then start call forwarding them to the Ombudsman...

They are trying to collect on a 10 year old debt.

I would like to report this number they call every  now and then .I want them to stop this scum.

I made an earlier post in March of this year about the seven years of harrasment from this company and how I was dealing with them.  

Get this.....

For the past month now I am getting calls from them for three other people besides myself...  LOL

One is for a man who I've never heard of other than getting collection calls from other collection agencies as well looking for him. He obviously has a lot of credit problems BUT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS MAN AND DO NOT KNOW HIM !!!  I finally got Active to reveal the year he actually was using  this number and it was 14 years ago. I have had this same number for almost eight years.  

The other two people they are phoning for now are two EX sisters-in-law who still maintain their married surnames  which is the same as mine. One divorced my brother twenty one years ago, the other divorced my other brother over 26 years ago.  I have not seen or heard from these women for over twenty years for Gods sake.  I have NO idea what part of the country they even moved to or if they are even alive.  Active insists that I am lying though and continually phone wanting me to give them forwarding contact information for them as well as for the man I have never heard from.

I told them to check their records and they will see that they are calling the same household for four different people. They obviously just got the phone number from the phone book just going by the last name.

Good Lord these people are stupid !!!

Hi new2me it doesn't matter if you change your number and make it unlisted, as long as you do your taxes and put your home  number down with said tax return they will get it.

The limit in Ontario is 2 years. Check Limitations act of 2002 on a Govt of Ont web site

they sent a letter to my employee, and file to small claim court, what should i do?

These people have been calling my number for years. For someone who does not live here.  I have had this phone number for over 10 years, and for at least 4 of them, the people from Aktiv Kapital have been calling and asking for a person that has never lived at this address. Perhaps they had this phone number before me, but that would have been in the 90s. We started off by politely telling them they must have the wrong number. But the calls keep coming. Sometimes they stop for a few months.  Then we will get weeks of endless calls. Many times calling 6-8 times a day.  

I refuse to change my phone number because these people do not understand that the person they are looking for is not here. I explain that to them and sometimes they say "sorry, we will make a note" and other times (more often than not) they get incredibly rude. They tell me I am lying and that I am the person they are seeking. he person's name is Mark something or other... I am a woman. I do not know of any named Mark. Then they tell me I am covering for someone and they will come after me.  

I have asked them to stop calling and have been told they can call as much as they like. I have told them that they cannot do that. The laws do not allow you to harass a person. Today they have called me 7 times already - starting at 8:01 this morning and calling once an hour after that. I have been actually answering the calls to tell them to knock it off - but 3 calls were "hello. This is an important business matter. Please call us back at....." and I am not about to do that. 1 call was "please stay on the line and you will be connected with a representative short..." and it cut off and hung up and 3 have been real people who have said hello and then hung up.

This is getting out of hand. I am wondering if I am within my rights to call the police at this point, because it is plain and simple harassment.

This company is very annoying.  Apparently they are collectors of old debts which might be scams
We have no debts where they got our number from I do not know.
I want them to STOP CALLING

Great idea............just wish I had the time to drive them nuts
