thanks for the heads up. They just called here and the only debt i can think of is over 10 years old too. i know that once you 'settle' or 'pay off' the debt, it renews itself on your credit bureau so sometimes it's best to just let sleeping dogs lie :)

Rhonda called for someone that does not and has never lived here.  Personal business matter for someone.  I called her back and she said this person had called them from this number.. Really strange as I am the only one living here.  Perhaps I never should have called them.  Aktiv Capital Acquisitions.

Just a suggestion, if you are calling someone who is not known to you just use *67 before you enter the rest of the phone number. What this will do is to stop caller ID, in other words your phone number will not show on their call display.

They have called me a number of times trying to collect on a very old debt at least 10 years old. I've checked my credit bureau and that debt was written off and off my bureau for years and my credit it good once again. I know that if I return or answer the call they would harrass me even more. The messages on my v-mail are trying to be threatening, but they'll get nothing and legally they can't put anything on my credit bureau now. I laugh, actually its amusing that they keep trying. GOOD LUCK AKTIV "CRAP"-ITAL LOL!!

They call me too...and same thing, they are trying to collect a debt that by the dates given to me by them is over 13 yrs old! I told them to send me proof of such a debt (months ago), they told me all the proof they have is what they are looking at on their computer screen!!! AND THEN HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME TO PROVE I DO NOT HAVE THIS DEBT I told them without PROPER proof(transaction records, signatures etc) I have nothing to discuss, if they wish to talk to me further they are to send what I asked for or stop harrassing me....needless to say they keep calling 2-3 times a day, and keep changing numbers in the hopes I'll answer it.
I did a little research on this company, they are well knowen to try to collect on very old debts that are no longer valid as well as I found a few complaints that they try to collect on debts that never even existed at all!  LEGALIZED SCAMMERS!!!!

ok, so you all know i lived in the telemrketing capital of the U.S., so i know how these things work. First, if your debt is more than 7 years old, and i mean no interaction such as payment or admission of money owed, it is past the statute of limitations, so no need to even try to deal with it. Company's like this are trying to get you to ADMIT your debt, so they can collect on it.  They buy these debts from the original lender for pennies on the dollar.

I was young and ran up some debt and then consolidated all my bills and paid it all off 9 years ago.  Now these scammers bought my info from one of bills i had paid off 9 years ago.  They are trying to say I still owe them money.  I called the company that consolidated my debts and verified it was paid, the problem is if I do something about this it may show up on my credit and now there is nothing. so keep calling active kapital  oh did i mention it was for 150 dollars...lol

Depending where you are located in the country after seven years the debts cannot legally be collected. They will not register on your bureau either.  The way they get around this is the need to identify you, verify you identity over the phone. They do not represent the company the debt is being collected. They then need a payment...once that is done your start the cycle all over. The problem is the day you start to pay on the debt it will register on your bureau and damage your credit. If any debt is attempted to be collected over six years, get a copy of your credit report. They purchase the debt from another agency for let's say 5 cents on the dollar. It will more than likely have dropped off. Do not be bullied by these scum bags. Very shaddy lucrative loop hole in the financial credit system.

Thank you for your posting and it makes perfect sense!
This phone number has been calling and the debt is over 7 years old, so it means I owe nothing but these scum think that because the "brought " the debt I will answer their call.

They are rude and uneffective.  But be aware and don't committ.

just for further info...Ontario - The Ontario Limitation Act 2002 , came into force on January 1, 2004. It sets two years as the term (Section 4). This limitation will be reinstated where the debtor acknowledges the debt or makes a partial payment towards repayment of his debt. If the default occurred prior to January 1, 2004, the creditor will continue to have 6 years to pursue the claim. However, if the default occurred after January 1, 2004 then the 2-year rule applies.

Federal - Section 32 of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act sets 6 years as the limit for debt.

these dink holes have been trying to call me everday even on weekends, and I myself used to work for a debt collection agency. I know the rules and its true after 7 years they cannot legally call you on an outstanding debt.
