I think it is a debt collector - I was in the hospital for several months and have some outstanding bills. They call every 2 minutes sometimes...5 or 6 times in a row. Then it stops for a few days and then they start again.

Optimum outage apology message. According to voicemail, to unsubscribe call 1-888-838-4458 and enter code 371302

I have no idea who is calling !!!!!!!!!  I will not answer !!!!

"This is Optimum calling apologizing for the service outage... etc."  It says you can unsubscribe by calling 888-838-4458 and entering a code.

Optimum calling to apologize for cable outages. Why not show Optimum on the CID so we know who's calling?

I would stay away from this number. I called  the local Optimum office after receiving two calls and the agent said it was not one of their numbers. Do NOT answer and call your local office listed on your bill and report this.

We lost power for a few hours. Thanks LIPA. Almost a month without power in the last 5 months for the highest electric bills nation wide.
Anyway, when the power goes out, so does Optimum. They called to apologize for the frustrating inconvenience. I got an email to the same effect. Yes its frustrating, but no need to apologize for LIPA's poor service. Keep those for your poor service. Apologies are no consolation for poor service.
Anyway, it was a legitimate call. There was an opt out # given.

And yes, it would be smart to have Optimum showing on the Caller ID. I was chatting with Optimum the night about their blocking service not working well and mentioned this to which I was told their office #'s will always show up as Optimum or Cablevision. It seems Optimum's other call centers should do the same. It would do away the the need for this thread.

Relax, it was not a debt collector. It was your monthly thief, Optimum apologizing for LIPA's power outage and your loss of service.

Its a bogus call. I received several calls from this number (see my post as MeBeUBe) . I found it suspicious and called Optimum. I gave them the information in the recorded messages, as well as the number that called. The customer service agent and was told the following.
1) They did not call here.
2) The number given in the messages was not one of theirs.

I believe she also confirmed the number displayed on the id was not an Optimum number.
Nonetheless if you receive one of these calls, I call the number on your bill and tell them what happened. Write down the information in the message and share it with the agent you speak to. DO NOT call the number in the message or on the caller id.

So...when Optimum has an outage...someone is leaving a kind apology message...but its not Optimum? Sounds odd to me...so I called Optimum also, and it seems that yes indeed those are legitimate messages from Optimum, and those of you that claim you called are full of Crappola. Get A Life!

This number called me and when I called it back,
it was for Optimum Cable Co.  Its their customer
service center for phone, tv, and internet service.
They didnt leave any messages but....it is weird
that they called me outta the blue.

Yes, this is Optimum/Cablevison  - Had an outage yesterday, if you login to your Optimum acct online you can select to receive these calls after trouble has been repaired. in some cases the outage may not have affected you but might have been in your area, so they send it out to everyone.

WHY WOULD OPTIMUM CALL A # THAT IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH MY ACCOUNT TO TELL ME TO CALL/TEXT A CODE TO  ANOTHER NUMBER UNASSOCIATED WITH OPTIMUM  WITHIN A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD OF WHICH IT SUPPOSEDLY EXPIRES, IN ORDER TO RECEIVE  "TEXT NOTIFICATIONS OF OUTAGES"

SOUNDS LIKE PHISHING TO ME , EVEN IF IT IS "OPTIMUM"

This number is the real deal. It is cablevision or optimum. The power did go out to the main node that supplies service. Some of these messages were made after hurricane sandy - Nov. 2 , 2012 and the February storm the following year. These Phone operators whether from optimum or not are not always correct about things. The guys criticism of the others are unwarranted because they just got the wrong info. from the operator even though he is right it is optimum !!!

Optimum calling after power failure indicating they have restored service - and gives minimum instructions on rebooting your modem if necessary/
