This is a scam. first any official government business is first handled by certified mail. Usually several attempts will be made this way first. It is first ghost called by a local number and then given another number to a call center. Answered by a foreign accent with an American name. "John Smith" was the rep that answered.(yes the founder of the Mormon church) My best guess is this is part of the major Sprint/T-mobile hack that recently happened and now in progress from the new owners of the client information recently stolen.  The ghost number is a BIG clue and the information and tactics are evident that its all Fraud.

The automated caller tells you that your ssn has been used in fraudulent activity. That there are legal allegations filed against you. Tells you to call 866-583-0474 immediately to speak to a SS officer. A call just before that came from an appearing to be local number 313-382-3604 that no one responds to when answered?

Phone number is from 916 722-3763.  I looked up phone number on Google.  Person’s last name to the phone number is “Web”.  Best to ignore scam calls.  Was a recording talking.  Weird, mean, rude, obnoxious!

Caller left a voice mail. Said they were from Social Security Administration and  all my bank accounts and social media were frozen. Why can't the NSA stop this type of terrorism? All our elected officials are worthless. They all walk around with their thumb up their butt.

866 583 0474 is a SCAM SCAM. This is the phone number they tell you to call. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Doing so will expose your SS and other personal info to ID THEFT and financial abuse. DO NOT CALL THEM. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. They called from 951-679-0389 which is a FAKE number.

Scam. Exactly as described in all comments here only my ghost call came from 480-500-6115

Social security scam saying as has been compromised and used for fraud. Same as the above. These people are terrorists !

I'm on AT&T (not Sprint/T-mobile) and also got this message. These scammers are everywhere.

THIS IS A SCAM. The recorded robot-like message says they're calling from the Social Security Administration. The # to call back is 866-583-0474. DO NOT CALL IT BACK.

This is a scam call about SS administration suspending bank accounts. Do not fall for it.

A ghost local phone number called my cell phone(513) 314-7951.
My voicemail said to call 866-583-0474 because my social security number and all bank accounts will be frozen if I don’t call them.

A "ghost local phone number"?  So this number belonged to a ghost?  Was it Casper the Friendly Ghost?

Received an automated caller saying that SSN has been used in fraudulent activity and that accounts will be frozen and tells me to call an SS officer giving the number 866-583-0474 but the intial call came from a (310) 940-9406 which has the same first 6 digits of my phone number. BEWARE!!
